He angitūtanga: The opportunity

There is an opportunity for an Enforcement Officer to join the Food Safety and Health Enforcement team. This role is responsible for promoting and protecting public health and improving the health, safety, and wellbeing of the public, through the investigation and resolution of complaints and enquires in relation to food safety and suitability; statutory health nuisances including housing, asbestos, and pests; hazardous substances including P-labs, Council bylaws including food grading; licensing and registration of food and health protection businesses; environmental and public health-related legislation.


Your typical day in this role would involve investigating complaints, responding to enquiries/requests for assistance or advice, and determining the best corrective action or response that is required.

You will be working with members of the public and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment, so we are looking for a team member who has a positive attitude, is self-motivated, and has excellent time management skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with a wide range of customers from different backgrounds.

You will also have significant experience in compliance management, investigation, and enforcement and the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation and bylaws. Exceptional conflict resolution skills are a must.

A current clean driver's licence is required for this role. You will also be required to be part of an on-call roster and need to be available to work after hours when required.

The remuneration range for this role is $88,528 - $94,000 per annum (Based on skills and relevant experience)
