Job Description

Are you a self-motivated, difference maker with a growth mindset? If you answered yes, then we're excited to hear from you.

We're looking for a detail-oriented Energy Program Associate to help us keep our incentive and grant programs running smoothly here at PEC (Pacific Energy Concepts), but before we dive into the nitty-gritty, we'd love to tell you a bit about us.

We've been around for over 17 years and are an innovative, growing company that's making a significant, industry-wide impact. Our core values, Build to Last, Do the Right Thing, Play to Win, and Push the Envelope, aren't the typical empty talking points you'll find floating around, they're fundamental to the people we are and the people we hire.

We're North America's most innovative energy optimization company. We deliver customized energy-efficiency solutions (like LED, advanced controls, Energy Monitoring, and EV Charging Stations) that go beyond energy savings, helping our partners "run efficient, save money, and work happy" all while reducing their carbon footprint.

With deep knowledge of the energy-efficiency industry, we are experts in designing, developing, and deploying targeted solutions in complex and specialized environments. This is why brands like Costco, IKEA, Jeld-Wen and Alaska Airlines (to name a few of the 5000+ companies we work with) put their trust in us.

The Job

The Energy Program Associate coordinates the full lifecycle of PEC's incentive, rebate, and grant programs, primarily supporting EVSE projects, from initial research through final payment. This role connects the Sales, Project Management, and Accounting teams with external utility and government programs, producing funding estimates, preparing applications, and tracking projects through to payment with a high degree of accuracy.

This position is based in-person in our Phoenix, AZ office.

The hiring range for this position is $50,000 - $62,000

Core Responsibilities

Program Research & Qualification

  • Research utility and government incentive and grant programs for electric vehicle chargers and commercial lighting, and provide funding estimates using program tools and information.
  • Assist the Sales team in researching and scoping EV charger and commercial lighting incentives, rebates, and grants, and understand the policies and procedures of programs in new territories.
  • Work with the Sales team to verify qualification of proposed equipment against program requirements.

Application Preparation & Submission

  • Prepare and submit incentive, rebate, and grant application documents for projects, and coordinate the full incentive and grant program lifecycle through to payment.
  • Compile application materials, Excel-based energy savings and incentive calculators, and supporting documentation based on PEC project information to prepare for submittal.
  • Facilitate the engineering review process with energy program staff and respond to requests for information.
  • Analyze bills of material, change orders, and technical project documentation to update programs on changes in scope and product specification.

Cross-Functional Coordination & Tracking

  • Work with Sales and Project Management teams to coordinate required site inspections.
  • Track project statuses with a high level of accuracy within the PEC project management platform.
  • Coordinate with Sales and Project Management teams, customer stakeholders, and energy program contacts to move applications forward.
  • Monitor energy program communications and respond promptly to program requests for additional project information.
  • Track and update program changes in the internal database as assigned.

Financial Administration & Reporting

  • Prepare project invoices and final documentation for programs upon project completion.
  • Work with the Accounting team to forecast and track program payments.
  • Assist with ongoing grant reporting as needed.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or two to four years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience processing energy efficiency incentives or working with energy efficiency programs, preferably with a focus on commercial incentives, or demonstrated commensurate experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Moderate Excel proficiency, including comfort with basic formulas and lookups.
  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend technical material, including product specifications and designs, or equivalent technical proficiency sufficient to collaborate with internal and external engineers and technical reviewers.
  • Experience with cross-collaboration between multiple internal teams and external stakeholders, including customer interaction.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively multitask and prioritize, often with minimal supervision.
  • Consistently positive attitude with ability to approach difficult or complex situations constructively, voice relevant concerns or ideas in a thoughtful manner, and proactively craft solutions.
  • Willingness to shift between high volume data entry and document management, and complex problem solving depending on project volume and team needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with EV chargers, commercial lighting, or other commercial energy efficiency technologies preferred.
  • A valid, insurable driver's license is required.
