Job Description

Do you want to play a key role in reducing the environmental footprint of one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical production sites? As Energy Professional in our large M3 project covering several factories, you will be the go-to expert for energy management across construction, commissioning and operation. This is a unique opportunity to combine technical expertise, data-driven insights and stakeholder collaboration to drive our Circular for Zero ambitions.

Your new role

In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end energy management for all parts of the M3 project at our site in Kalundborg. You will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), ensuring robust forecasting, reliable data, and continuous optimisation of our energy performance while supporting stable and efficient operations.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Act as SME on energy matters across M3, building a deep understanding of process and utility systems to support energy efficient design and operation
  • Forecast energy consumption throughout construction, commissioning and operational phases, including peak load requirements
  • Ensure reliable data collection and metering, validating meter setups, proposing new meters where needed, and ensure good data collection and reporting .
  • Drive energy optimisation and improvement initiatives, identifying saving opportunities, supporting operational energy efficiency activities and contributing actively to Novo Nordisk’s Circular for Zero strategy.
  • Secure operational readiness and smooth transition to stable operation, ensuring that energy management processes, systems and data are in place and supporting a seamless handover from project to operations.

Your new department

You will join the M3 organisation at our site in Kalundborg, Denmark – one of the world’s largest insulin production hubs and a cornerstone in ensuring a stable supply of medicines to patients worldwide. The M3 area comprises a portfolio of buildings and production-related facilities that are expanding and evolving to meet future capacity and sustainability demands.

In this environment, you will work closely with colleagues from process, utilities, facilityprojects, and corporate functions, as well as external engineering partners. The culture is collaborative, ambitious and quality-focused, with a strong emphasis on safety, environmental responsibility and continuous improvement. You will be part of a team where your expertise is valued, your ideas are welcomed, and you are trusted to drive your own tasks while contributing to shared goals.

Your skills and qualifications

To succeed in this role, you bring a solid technical foundation, strong analytical skills and a passion for energy performance and sustainability in an industrial context.

We imagine that you have:

  • A relevant technical or academic background (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Energy or Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline) with a strong analytic and data minded profile
  • Experience with energy optimisation and energy performance in industrial manufacturing processes, including knowledge of industrial utilities, technical building systems and operational energy efficiency initiatives.
  • Familiarity with energy management systems, such as ISO 50001 and/or ISO 14001, and how they are applied to structured energy management, monitoring and continuous improvement.
  • A proactive, goal- and action-oriented mindset, enabling you to drive tasks independently, prioritise effectively and navigate across different disciplines and organisational levels.
  • Strong stakeholder and communication skills, allowing you to build relationships, train and guide others, and translate complex energy data into clear, value-adding insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

As a person, you are systematic and quality-minded, and you are able to balance energy performance with process needs and operational requirements. You stay curious about best practices in energy management and use your insights to drive ongoing improvements.
