Job Description

Main Responsibilities

We’re the Origination & Energy Management team in Trina Solar’s international projects division (ISBU). We negotiate, sign and manage the PPAs, route-to-market agreements and BESS contracts for the division’s solar and storage projects across Europe.

This is our first dedicated middle office role, and you’ll build the function from scratch: a second pair of eyes on every deal, and one reliable picture of what we’ve signed, what we’re exposed to and what’s coming up. You’ll report to the Director of Origination & Energy Management and work closely with origination, asset management, finance and legal.

What you’ll do

  • Review every deal before it’s signed. Challenge how it’s structured, give an independent view of how it changes our position, risks and results, and confirm the final version matches what was approved.
  • Follow each deal through. Book it, make sure asset management and finance have what they need, and stay on top of it until the contract ends.
  • Own the numbers that tell us where we stand. Open position and hedge ratio, one official set of price curves, the revenue forecast, and P&L against budget with sensitivities and stress scenarios.
  • Run the deal book. Keep every contract and its critical clauses in one place, with early warnings before any milestone or obligation falls due.
  • Monitor bonds and guarantees. Track every bond, letter of credit and parent company guarantee we give and receive, from issue to release, so renewals and releases happen on time and our exposure stays covered.
  • Build the function. Design the team’s tools and data, report to management, and write down each process as you set it up.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years in middle office, risk or portfolio management in the energy sector, at a utility, IPP or energy trader, or at a consultancy working on PPAs.
  • A solid grasp of power markets and PPA structures, and how to value them.
  • The ability to read a contract and turn it into data.
  • Something you built yourself that others still use: a model, a report or a tool.
  • Advanced Excel. Power BI, VBA or Python are a plus.
  • Fluent Spanish and English.
  • A degree in engineering, economics, finance or similar.
  • Organised, rigorous and comfortable challenging a deal when the numbers don’t add up.

Nice to have

  • Italian and/or French.
  • Hands-on knowledge of several European power markets, BESS revenue streams, Guarantees of Origin, PPA accounting under IFRS 9 and some exposure to an ETRM system.
