Wood is recruiting for an Energy Marshall to join its Malaysia Business Unit, supporting the delivery of large-scale data centre construction projects. The role will operate as part of the Onsite Owner’s Representative team, ensuring safe and compliant energy isolation practices throughout all phases of construction and commissioning.

The Role
The Energy Marshall will act as the Owner’s Representative, responsible for overseeing and enforcing Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, energy isolation protocols, and safe energization practices. This role ensures that all electrical, mechanical, and utility systems are controlled and verified before work begins, reducing risk and enabling safe commissioning in a mission-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities
Energy Isolation & LOTO Governance
• Implement and enforce Owner’s Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program across all work fronts • Verify isolation points and ensure proper tagging and lock placement before work begins • Maintain accurate records of isolation permits and energy control documentation
Compliance & Safety Assurance
• Ensure all energy isolation activities comply with Owner standards, local regulations, and international best practices • Monitor high-risk energization activities and verify readiness for commissioning • Conduct audits and inspections to confirm compliance with isolation procedures
Coordination & Communication
• Serve as the primary liaison for energy isolation between Owner, General Contractor, subcontractors, and commissioning teams • Participate in daily coordination meetings and provide updates on isolation status and risks • Support resolution of conflicts related to isolation sequencing or access
Incident Prevention & Reporting
• Identify potential hazards related to energy sources and escalate issues promptly • Assist in investigations of isolation-related incidents and ensure corrective actions are implemented • Maintain logs of isolation activities and contribute to weekly/monthly reporting

Expected:
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Safety Engineering
• Minimum 7–10 years of experience in energy isolation and LOTO management on large construction projects
• Experience within mission-critical/data centre environments is highly desirable
• Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, isolation procedures, and safety regulations
• Excellent communication and coordination skills
