Every day, we enable our customers to solve the most complex and dynamic challenges to help achieve a safe and sustainable world.

Your Impact

In this position you will project, evaluate and interpret policy and market trends for energy commodities across the entire energy market/system, including the end-use and supply sectors (Industry, Buildings, Transport, Power, e-Fuels and Bioenergy/Biofuels Supply). The role supports strategic decision-making by analysing supply–demand dynamics, pricing behaviour, and broader market drivers. It combines data analytics, economic modelling, and operations research.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Collect, process and analyse multi- and single-country energy system and economic data covering all demand and supply sectors.
  • Track policy developments impacting energy pricing and long‑term energy system planning.
  • Operate, maintain and update the in-house energy system modelling tools (e.g. PRIMES) for full impact assessments, evaluating energy market scenarios and sensitivity analyses.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable narratives.
  • Support internal and client-facing deliverables on energy market developments.
  • Work closely with modellers and analysts and contribute to the preparation of forward-looking energy policy scenarios.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations summarizing trends, forecasts, and model-based insights.

What You'll Bring

  • Hold an MSc degree in engineering, applied mathematics, operations research, energy economics or physics.
  • Proven work and/or research experience in the field of energy systems analysis, energy market analysis, techno-economic assessment or engineering from at least two (2) to six (6) years.
  • Prior experience working with or analysing specific end‑use sectors – such as transport, buildings, industry or power – is an asset.
  • Demonstrated data management skills, including the ability to work with large datasets and use programming tools, preferably GAMS or Python or R for modelling.
  • Experience in mathematical programming, optimization modelling, general software programming or familiarity with common modelling platforms (TIMES/MARKAL, OSeMOSYS, MESSAGEix, PLEXOS, PyPSA, etc.) is an asset.
  • Have a good understanding of European and/or international energy and environmental policy issues and of fundamentals of economic theory.
  • Project management experience will be considered a plus.
  • Proven writing skills gained through (co-) authorship of academic articles, technical and/or policy reports in English is an asset.
  • Be an excellent user of MS Office, with emphasis on MS Excel (including VBA).
  • Be proficient in English (verbal and written).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical abilities.
  • Have a detail-oriented and problem-solving mindset, collaborative attitude, ready to develop new competencies in energy economics and system modelling and ability to work multiple projects simultaneously.
