As an Energy Lease Project Manager you will build and maintain relationships with lessors and other external stakeholders to originate and perform diligence on growth opportunities. In addition, theEnergy Lease Project Manager will communicate with cross-functional teams and leadership to influence strategic decision making.

The Energy Lease Project Manager will need to understand the dynamics of energy markets, delivery systems, regulatory and policy environments, and Microsoft’s own unique position in the energy sector to deliver creative solutions. This necessitates that the candidate brings an innovative, collaborative presence to the role while also driving commercial project execution to realize business goals and meet sustainability targets.

As part of the CO+I Energy Team, you will join a team of professionals responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and delivering strategic energy and digital infrastructure projects. The candidate will manage a portfolio of activities to identify and execute on 3rd party data center capacity, energy infrastructure development plans, and power acceleration strategies to support Microsoft’s continued datacenter growth.

Business travel required (10%-25%, subject to fluctuation with business tempo.

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate and negotiate datacenter energy supply and interconnection solutions with utilities and third-party capacity suppliers in support of Microsoft’s datacenter growth.
• Develop relationships with external suppliers and partners, including colocation providers and electric utilities to deliver solutions for energy supply and infrastructure.
• Participate in due-diligence and contract negotiations with colocation providers to secure fair and cost-effective energy terms based on Microsoft energy lease principles.
• Collaborate with colocation providers to develop innovative partnership strategies to meet Microsoft’s ambitious sustainability and carbon reduction goals.
• Regularly review and analyze energy invoices from colocation providers and their utility providers to track costs and identify cost savings opportunities for Microsoft.
• Assist with datacenter interconnection and energy supply contract negotiations with utilities and third-party energy suppliers.
• Develop energy cost models to support decision making.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Business, Engineering, Law, Policy, or related field, and experience in the energy industry, project management, business development, or related role
• OR Master's Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Business, Engineering, Law, Policy, AND experience in the energy industry, project management, business development, or related role.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience negotiating energy provisions in datacenter leasing contracts.
• Experience developing or negotiating large customer retail rates
• Experience negotiating energy contracts

Background Check Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Sourcing Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across United Kingdom is £ 74,700.00 - £ 122,600.00 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.

Sourcing Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across Ireland is € 77,400.00 - € 130,000.00 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
