End User Services Intern

Position Summary

MACOM is seeking a motivated and technology-focused End User Services Intern to join our Information Technology team. This internship offers hands-on experience supporting end-user computing environments in a fast-paced global technology company.

The End User Services Intern will work alongside IT professionals to support employees with hardware, software, mobile devices, and collaboration technologies. This role provides exposure to enterprise IT operations, troubleshooting methodologies, customer service best practices, and workplace technology management.

This is an excellent opportunity for students pursuing careers in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related fields to gain real-world experience supporting business-critical IT services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level technical support to employees for hardware, software, and basic network-related issues.
  • Assist with imaging, configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting Windows laptops and desktop computers.
  • Support Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding activities including device preparation, account setup, and equipment collection.
  • Support mobile devices including smartphones and tablets.
  • Track, manage, and maintain IT asset inventory and documentation.
  • Assist with hardware refresh projects and workstation deployments.
  • Create and update technical documentation, knowledge base articles, and user guides.
  • Escalate complex issues to appropriate IT teams when necessary.
  • Participate in IT projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain professionalism and provide excellent customer service when interacting with end users.

Preferred Qualifications

Required

  • Currently enrolled in an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in:

o Information Technology

o Computer Science

o Information Systems

o Cybersecurity

o Related technical field

  • Basic understanding of Windows operating systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer-focused mindset and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Experience troubleshooting computers or supporting users in a school, work, or volunteer setting.
  • Basic understanding of:

o Active Directory

o Computer imaging and deployment

o Networking fundamentals

o IT ticketing systems

  • Knowledge of IT hardware including laptops, monitors, docks, and peripherals.

During the 12 weeks each Intern will:

  • Be given an individual and well-defined project with set outcome goals
  • Gain hands on experience
  • Receive excellent training and ongoing supervision
  • Be invited to attend an intern webinar series
  • Attend networking/social events
  • Attend and present at Poster Session about each Interns project successes and pitfalls
  • Receive formal, written feedback

The Hourly Range for this position is $20 – $47 per hour. Actual salary offered to candidate will depend on several factors, including but not limited to, work location, relevant candidates’ experience, education, and specific knowledge, skills, and abilities.
