Reporting to the Manager, integrates knowledge and skill reflective of the client centred service mode of care and principles of adult learning. The Provincial Education Coordinator will provide visible, proactive leadership and education and promote the delivery of client centred care through identified educational programming and is responsible for assessing learning needs of staff, planning, and implementing, coordinating, instructing / facilitating and evaluating education activities/programs. The Provincial Education Coordinator partners with the Clinical Quality Assurance Coordinator, Field Trainers, Instructors and First Responder Coordinators to create and deliver educational programs throughout SHA EMS. The education requirements are aligned with the SHA’s Vision, Mission, and Values and the Provincial Education Coordinator is committed to being a leader in the provision of educational programming. The Provincial Education Coordinator is expected to assist and participate in the development of the vision and strategic plan for the program in alignment within the SHA values and strategic direction.

Human Resources Exemption: No

Experience

  • Requires two year of ACP experience, which includes program/resource development related to needs assessment, planning, program design, implementation and evaluation; and Adult Education methods, facilitation skills and leading group activities.

Education

  • Minimum level Advanced Care Paramedic current unrestricted license and in good standing with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics
  • Instructor Level status in all of the following:
    • BLS
    • ACLS
  • Instructor Level in the following are an asset:
    • ACLS EP
    • Advanced Airway Instructor levels such as DAC or AIMES
    • ITLS
    • PALS

Licenses

  • Valid Class 4 driver's license

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Articulate theory and knowledge related to client centered care and the principles of adult education.
  • Able to develop educational programs/resources including needs assessment, planning, design, implementation and evaluation.
  • Able to plan, prioritize and execute responsibilities independent of supervision.
  • Developed leadership skills and ability to be self-directed and self-motivated.
  • Able to teach and facilitate group activities and integrate clinical knowledge and experience into activities to enhance clinical practice.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with staff, co-workers and other medical personnel, partners and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop Business Case, SBAR, and Work Standards
  • Able to establish and maintain strong and effective interpersonal/consultative relationships and communication.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving abilities.
  • Able to apply research to clinical practice.
  • Thorough knowledge, application and operation of all equipment pertinent to the scope of practice of EMS.
  • Thorough knowledge and application of SHA Values, Vision, Work Standards, and EMS Protocols demonstrating accountability, compassion, dependability, respect and honesty.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office, knowledge of scheduling programs, training platforms.
  • Flexible and adaptable to a changing workload.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety standards and apply according to position.
  • Ability to facilitate in person and online training sessions.
