This position responds to emergency and non-emergency calls, delivering EMT-2 level patient care and treatment to sick or injured persons, transporting patients, communicating to allied health care professionals, and completing medical, legal and Borough documentation.

J1 - J5 - DOE
High school diploma or equivalent, and specialized training in the field of work including college courses, certificate program, apprenticeship, etc.
Possession of current state of Alaska issued EMT certification or current NREMT certification. Candidates hired without an EMT 2 certification issued by the State of Alaska must successfully complete EMT 2 training and an EMT 2 Internship provided by Department of Emergency Services within six (6) months of hire. Candidates hired without a current EMT 2 certification issued by the State of Alaska will be paid at the EMT 1 pay grade (currently starting at $25.34hr). When EMT 2 certification and internship requirements have been met, the employee's pay will be adjusted to the EMT 2 pay grade.
Current basic life support (BLS) certification.
Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Alaska for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Must be at least 19 years of age with one (1) year of driving experience.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, physical, respirator fit test and physical ability test (PAT) in addition to an annual respirator fit test and PAT test. Must complete a baseline audiometry screening and will be required to undergo annual testing as part of the Hearing Conservation Program. Must complete the Hepatitis B vaccination series and maintain a current Tetanus (Td or Tdap) vaccination, or provide signed declinations, in accordance with applicable health and safety guidelines. Must complete Tuberculosis (TB) screening, or provide signed declination, in accordance with applicable health and safety guidelines.
Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) courses, ICS 100 and IS 700 within ninety (90) days of hire, and ICS 200 and IS 800 within one (1) year of hire.
