Job Description

Job Location: HAMILTON, TX 76531JOB SUMMARY:
- Responds to emergency calls and facilitates patient transfers.
- Provides essential first aid and medical care to patients in emergency situations, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Communicates vital patient information to dispatch and maintains accurate patient care records in compliance with ambulance service protocols.
- Ensures vehicles and equipment are maintained in optimal working condition to support efficient operations.
- OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Class I.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Emergency Vehicle Operation and Maintenance
- Safely operates emergency vehicles in compliance with traffic laws and best practices for emergency response.
- Ensures the safe and efficient transport of critically ill or injured patients to medical facilities or designated locations, following all safety protocols.
- Performs daily checks and cleaning of the ambulance and medical equipment to ensure optimal performance and readiness.
- Reports necessary maintenance or repairs to the supervisor to ensure vehicle and equipment reliability.
Advanced Emergency Medical Care
- Leads in the safe extraction of patients from challenging environments, utilizing advanced techniques and equipment, while prioritizing the patient’s injuries and safety.
- Administers advanced life support (ALS) measures, including airway management, intravenous therapy, medication administration, and cardiac monitoring, in accordance with protocols and scope of practice.
- Provides emotional support to patients while ensuring respect for their rights, beliefs, and dignity during emergency care.
- Delivers care tailored to the specific needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, utilizing knowledge of their growth and development stages.
- Accurately assesses and interprets clinical data across all age groups, identifying critical care needs and applying appropriate interventions as defined by departmental and state protocols.
Patient Documentation and Communication
- Conducts thorough patient assessments, collecting pertinent information through interviews and clinical evaluations, and relays critical data to dispatch or the receiving medical facility via radio.
- Completes detailed patient care reports and documentation in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy for medical records and compliance with legal and billing requirements.
- Collects patient information required for billing processes to ensure accurate financial documentation.
- Ensures all reports, forms, and documentation are completed with accuracy and submitted promptly.
Equipment and Supply Management
- Restocks medical supplies and medications after each call to maintain full readiness for the next response.
- Regularly inspects medical supplies for expiration and ensures all medical equipment is in proper working condition to deliver effective patient care.
OTHER SIGNIFICANT REQUIREMENTS:
- Maintains strict confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and healthcare policies.
- Promotes positive relationships with the community and other emergency services personnel, including law enforcement, fire services, and hospital staff, to ensure collaborative and effective patient care.
- Follows all safety guidelines, regulations, and protocols established by the healthcare system and relevant governing bodies.
- Ensures the ambulance and station are maintained in a clean and operational state to support efficient emergency response.
- Adheres to standard operating procedures, protocols, and best practices to ensure the highest level of patient care and safety.

QualificationsJOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Personal job-related skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in the operation of emergency medical vehicles and equipment.
- Strong ability to comply with hospital, local, and state regulations in the provision of emergency medical care.
Licensure, registry or certification:
- Current certification as a Paramedic or Licensed Paramedic by the Texas Department of State Health Services, along with a valid driver's license.
Experience
Preferred Work

Experience:
- One year of experience in an emergency medical environment.
Required Training:
- AHA CPR certification.
Physical and mental requirements
- This position involves intermittent walking, sitting, and standing, as well as bending, stooping, and reaching.
- The role requires the ability to lift up to 150 lbs and to push, pull, and carry patients using appropriate equipment.
- In certain situations, the ability to work at heights, travel long distances, and perform under stress or in potentially hostile environments is required.
