Provide Advanced life support, emergency care, and transportation of patients in accordance with Kansas Board of EMS regulations and Sedgwick County EMS established protocols. Functions in the capacity of an experienced paramedic assigned to the lead role on an ambulance. Operates under the supervision of a Captain and ensures the proper application of the organization’s standard operating procedures to the ambulance and EMS post to which they are assigned.

  • Provide emergency care and transportation in accordance with both KBEMS regulations and Sedgwick County Medical Society Protocols.
  • Establish a cohesive and productive working environment to enhance overall patient care and outcomes
  • Work to maintain a safe work environment and minimize risk of injury
  • Determine most effective method of emergency treatment and transport
  • Apply basic and advanced life support
  • Administer medications
  • Undertake appropriate invasive procedures
  • Coordinate care with receiving facility

Operational Readiness

  • Respond to emergency calls in an appropriate manner
  • Ensure ambulance mechanical readiness to respond to emergency calls
  • Maintain a workplace that is clean and free of potentially infectious contaminates
  • Ensure proper inventory and readiness of Emergency Medical Equipment
  • Ensure proper inventory of medical supplies and medications
  • Ensure proper inventory of personal and vehicle safety equipment
  • Effectively communicates EMS operational readiness reports
  • Proficient in all navigation tools to ensure prompt response to emergency calls
  • Knowledgeable understanding of MCT/EPCR operations and software
  • Demonstrate leadership ability by maintaining above average proficiencies in all areas directly applicable to the effective operation of the assigned ambulance

Documentation

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely records/files of all actions pertaining to patient care
  • Accurately complete post supply order form when needed
  • Ensure completion of Daily Mechanical Log Checklist and Daily Narcotics Log
  • Documents any insufficiencies in appropriate report (QIR, ACR, ECR, FCR)

Minimum Qualifications: Two years of experience as a Paramedic with Sedgwick County EMS. State of Kansas Paramedic Certification. Per Sedgwick County Policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US driver’s license without restrictions.

Preferred Qualifications: Four years of experience as a paramedic. Associate in Paramedic Programs or related degree.
