Job Description

The EMR Systems Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration, configuration, optimization, and support of the athenahealth (Athena Net) Electronic Medical Records platform. This role serves as the primary technical subject matter expert, collaborating with clinical operations, revenue cycle, and compliance teams to ensure optimal system performance and support exceptional patient care and organizational outcomes.

Qualifications: Education, Licensure and Certifications, Related Work Experience

· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

· 3+ years of hands-on experience administering athenahealth (athenaNet) EMR platform

· Experience with ambulatory clinical workflows, revenue cycle processes, and healthcare operations

· Preferred: athenahealth Certified Administrator credential

Other specialized skills and knowledge necessary to perform this job. (e.g., basic accounting principles, computer skills and software, specific healthcare processes, interpersonal, communication, etc.

Strong knowledge of EMR configuration, templates, workflow automation, and report building

Experience with user access controls, HIPAA compliance, and healthcare IT security practices

2.

Working knowledge of HL7, interoperability standards, and healthcare data exchange

4.

Strong communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts to clinical users

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities

1.

Administer, configure, and maintain the athenahealth EMR platform, including workflows, templates, and system settings

2.

Manage user provisioning, system access, and security roles in compliance with policies and HIPAA

3.

Serve as liaison with athenahealth support; manage system issues and escalations

4.

Lead EMR-related initiatives such as onboarding, workflow redesigns, and system upgrades

5.

Develop and maintain documentation, procedures, and training materials

6.

Monitor system performance and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity

7.

Conduct training sessions for clinical and administrative staff

8.

Support integrations between EMR and other systems (clinical, billing, analytics)

9.

Ensure compliance with HIPAA, MIPS/Meaningful Use, and applicable regulations

10.

Design and develop advanced reports within athenahealth

11.

Other related duties as assigned.

· Strictly protect patient information in accordance with all federal and state privacy laws and Eventus WholeHealth policies and procedures.

· Promptly report any violations of federal and state privacy laws and Eventus WholeHealth

· policies and procedures to Eventus WholeHealth’s Chief Compliance and Risk Officer.

Documentation and Record Keeping:

· Maintain accurate and complete documentation when performing the job duties.

· Ensure that all Eventus WholeHealth information, data, documentation, and records are always safeguarded and maintained confidentially.

Training and Education:

· Participate in all assigned training.

· Complete all assigned training by the deadline for completion.

Risk Management and Incident Reporting:

· Engage in regular risk assessments to identify potential risks and work proactively with a supervisor and Eventus WholeHealth’s Chief Compliance and Risk Officer to mitigate any identified risks.

· Promptly report any incidents (as defined in the “Incident Report Policy”) to the Chief Compliance and Risk Officer.
