Internal Title: Disability Support Worker

Part-Time | $36.22/hr | 40 hours per Fortnight | Newcastle, Lake Mac and Maitland Regions

Help people with disability build confidence, develop workplace skills and achieve meaningful employment outcomes.

About the Role

As an employment focus Disability Support Worker, you'll support people with disability to develop the skills, confidence and independence needed to achieve their employment goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing person-centred support in supported employment and workplace settings
  • Providing both workplace-based support and office-based employment services, including employment planning, job readiness activities, goal setting, resume development, progress documentation and capacity-building supports
  • Coaching participants to build workplace skills and confidence
  • Delivering practical on-the-job support and mentoring
  • Encouraging inclusion, choice and active participation
  • Supporting communication, organisation and workplace readiness skills
  • Monitoring progress and maintaining accurate documentation
  • Collaborating with participants, employers and key stakeholders
  • Promoting safe work practices and positive employment outcomes

About You

You'll be passionate about helping others achieve their goals and committed to empowering people to reach their full potential.

To be successful, you'll bring:

  • Experience supporting people with disability or working in community, employment or vocational services
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A patient, supportive and person-centred approach
  • Strong organisational and administration skills
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office programs
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
  • A genuine commitment to inclusion and independence

Essential Requirements

  • Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services or a related field, or demonstrated experience in disability support, employment services, community services or a similar role
  • Current NDIS Worker Check and Working with Children Check
  • Current Driver Licence

Desirable

  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, training or vocational support
  • Understanding of employment pathways and workplace skill development

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.
