About the Role

This role is responsible for delivering person-centred employment supports to supported employees, enabling them to maintain meaningful employment while enhancing their independence, confidence, and workplace integration. The position works in close consultation with supported employees, empowering them to participate in decisions that impact their lives and guiding them to set and achieve their personal and employment goals.

As an Employment Support Worker, you will support people living with disability on the job:

  • Foster a culture of person-centred practice that places supported employees, their families, and guardians at the centre of all support planning and decision-making.
  • Participate in daily check-ins with the Employment Coach and Site Leader to establish and implement the daily support plan.
  • Deliver supports in line with each individual’s Support Plan or Positive Behaviour Support Plan, ensuring actions reflect their personal goals and needs.
  • Work alongside supported employees to maintain focus, enhance productivity, and build skills and capabilities in the workplace.
  • Engage in ongoing consultation with supported employees and their families or guardians, ensuring they lead all decisions affecting their lives.
  • Communicate any changes in a supported employee’s needs to your leader to ensure timely and appropriate adjustments to support.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of individual progress, including supports provided and progress toward goals.

This is a Permanent Full-Time position based at West Ipswich, QLD 4305

About You

You will have:

  • Capability to support people to make choices and decisions to achieve their personal goals.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, striving towards a common goal.
  • Flexible in approach to be able to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the National Disability Industry Standards.
  • Demonstrated componence in computer applications.

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.

When it comes to training and research we partner with the very best. Our campus partners, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) and The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, along with the RCH Foundation, are on site with the hospital in Parkville.
