Employment Specialist

Location: Haverhill, MA (Day Program)

Schedule This position is benefit eligible as of date of hire.

  • Monday - Friday from 8:30am - 3:30pm



Compensation:
This is a 35 hour non-exempt, part-time position. The hourly rate is $21.00. You will be a union member to SEIU Local 509.

Position Details: An Employment Specialist acts as a job coach who supports individuals in overcoming barriers to employment by providing career counseling, job readiness training, and community-based employment, as well as activities related to employment and volunteer activities. This position is based out of your Day Program in Haverhill, MA but you will also be required to transport individuals to job sites and/or assist with public/private transportation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site training and coaching to individuals at community job sites to ensure job retention and skill development.
  • Support individuals participating in community-based activities, including volunteer work and paid employment, that align with their interests and goals.
  • Ensure timely transportation to and from job sites, volunteer shifts, and other scheduled activities, either by providing direct transportation or assisting with public/private transit.
  • Deliver personal care and physical assistance as needed, adapting support techniques to meet individual medical and physical needs.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in accordance with agency and regulatory requirements.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Promote and protect the legal, civic, and human rights of all individuals served, maintaining strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintain a customer-focused approach in all interactions, ensuring quality service delivery and professionalism with individuals served, families, guardians, and referral sources.
  • Collaborate with team members in planning, goal setting, and maintaining a positive and inclusive program environment.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, training sessions, and program development activities.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment by reporting issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Complete all mandatory training to ensure compliance and professional development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor and report any barriers to completing assigned tasks.



Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience in providing training, case management and appropriate service delivery to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in the community.
  • Candidates must be able to read, write, and comprehend English to accurately follow care plans, document services provided, and communicate effectively with individuals, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Basic computer literacy is required, including the ability to use email, word processing software, spreadsheets, and case management systems.
  • CPR/First Aid; training is offered by Waystone to acquire certification within 3 months of employment.
  • Valid Driver’s License in good standing with a minimum of one year of driving experience.
