About the Organisation

Life Without Barriers is a leading social purpose, not for profit organisation of 8,000 employees working in more than 500 communities across Australia. We support children, young people and families, people with disability, older people, and people with mental illness. We work with people who are homeless and refugees and asylum seekers.

Empowering people with disability to live life the way they choose is at the heart of how Life Without Barriers has operated for over 25 years. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and continue this mission. Support people with disability to have the choice, control, and independence to live their best life. If you’re passionate about inclusivity, respect, and making a meaningful difference, this is the career move for you.

We want to employ people who reflect the diversity of our clients to ensure we can support each client's individual needs and wants. We encourage people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background and people with disability to apply.

About the role

As an Employment Pathways Coach, you will play a key role in supporting and empowering people to build the skills, confidence and experience they need to achieve their employment goals. Working with participants accessing NDIS employment supports, you will provide person-centred support to help individuals prepare for and secure employment.

You will work with each participant to develop and implement an individualised employment pathway based on their strengths, interests, and personal goals. This may include supporting participants in setting employment goals, building social and community participation skills, developing workplace readiness, accessing work experience opportunities, and identifying further education or training pathways.

You will build strong relationships with employers, education providers and community organisations to create employment opportunities and support successful transitions from school to employment. Your ability to advocate, collaborate and foster community connections will be essential in helping participants achieve positive employment outcomes.

This is a full time work from home position with regular travel in the community to facilitate participants appointments, community engagement and visiting training providers and workplaces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centred support to Participants in line with their support needs, preferences, individual Employment Pathways Plans and funding.
  • Actively support the Participant to increase work readiness through capacity building, skill acquisition, work experience and supported decision making
  • Identify any other challenges that may be impacting a participant’s ability to aspire to or undertake work (such as health, mental health, allied health or housing instability)
  • Contribute to a positive team culture while delivering high-quality services to participants.

Skills & Experience

  • Certificate IV in relevant Social & Community Services qualification.
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Demonstrated case management experience in working with young people with disability.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing relationships and opportunities through community engagement and partnerships.
  • Proficient ability in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of programs and data base systems (or quickly able to become competent in data base systems)

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks, including a National Criminal History Record Check, NDIS clearance, and a Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).

Benefits

  • Opportunity to work for one of Australia’s largest social purpose organisations
  • Career pathways across a national organisation
  • Receive up to $15,900 of your annual salary tax-free through Salary Packaging, increasing your take-home pay
  • Access to Fitness Passport – workplace health and fitness program that gives you and your family access to a choice of gyms and pools across your area
