Job Description

Join us as an Employment Law & HR Officer

  • This is an opportunity to build on your existing experience of employment law or HR, in a supportive and collaborative environment
  • Joining Mentor, you’ll be delivering employment law and HR advice and support to our clients
  • This could be a major stepping stone for your future career, as we’ll support your progression with training
  • This role can be hybrid or fully remote depending on the successful candidate’s location
  • You'll start on a competitive salary from £30,855 to £36,300 depending on experience
  • We're offering this role for a period of 15 months

What you'll do

We’ll be looking to you to provide telephony and webchat employment law, employee relations and HR advice and guidance on non-complex issues. You’ll identify opportunities to meet the needs of your client through bespoke services, and you’ll generate referrals for additional consultancy and training services, generating income through cross sales.

The skills you'll need

We’re looking for someone with experience in an HR, employee relations or employment law role. You’ll have the ability to deliver and advise on statutory processes and procedures, so good communication skills will be key. You'll also need the ability to weigh up pros and cons of different options to make well informed decisions with the needs of clients in mind. Additionally you’ll have strong administration, IT and research skills.

A qualification in employment law or HR would be an advantage, although this is not essential as you'll receive thorough training while in your role.

You’ll also need:

  • The ability to work at pace to meet deadlines and solve difficult issues while maintaining the quality of work
  • A background of supporting disciplinary and grievance hearings
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) code of practice on disciplinary and grievance, statutory employment law, employee relations, HR and best practice
  • The ability to build effective and trusted partnerships with clients, as well as to deal with clients from multiple channels and sectors
  • High standards of attention to detail and client service
