Unifi seeks an experienced employment attorney to join its growing legal team andhelp ensurecompliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. In this role, you willprovidedaily legal guidance to company operators and corporateteams, managelitigation andoutside counsel, train employees, andsupportthe legal teamona variety ofemployment matters.Thisposition will alsocollaboratefrequentlywithHR and leadership teams on strategic planning. The Unifi Legal Departmentprovides shared legal services to severalaffiliated entitiesof its parent company.

This position is assigned to work in Atlanta, Georgia, with a hybrid in-office and at-home arrangement. Occasional travel will berequired(<10% travel).  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Design and develop programs, policies, and practices to ensure that the Companycomplies withfederal, state, and local regulatory requirements throughout its operations.

  • Advisemanagers anddepartments onHR and employment legal issues,includingproactive measurestoreducelegal exposure

  • Manage and resolve employment-related disputes, governmental agency actions, and routine employment litigation matters

  • Respond to demand letters andstateand federal agency charges.

  • Manage Department of Laborand similar government entityaudits.

  • Superviseandconductlegal research forpendingemploymentlegalmatters

  • Independently manage outside counsel onaportionof the Company’s employment litigation caseload, including class action lawsuits,in line with budgetand outside counsel guidelines

  • Manage and track budgets.

  • Train HR professionalsand leaderson best practices for investigations, accommodations, privilege, discrimination,wage and hour,pay equity, recruiting, terminations, and other employment-law-related topics.

  • Provide counsel and guidance to HR and Operationsregardingcomplex employee relations issues, including workplace investigations,wage and hour compliance,accommodation and leave requests, termination decisions, andnumerousotheremployment-relatedmatters.  

  • Coordinate nationwide employment-law-related initiativesand serve asthebusiness’ssubject-matter expertonthose topics.

  • Track and interpret relevant laws, regulations, and ordinances, and advise and educate key personnel, including senior management, onimportant changes

  • Draft, review, revise, update,maintain, anddisseminatepolicies and procedures necessary to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.

  • Conduct or direct internal investigations to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations.

  • Work closely with and support senior management in the implementation of compliance-related programs.

  • Ensure that any corrective action plans, as well as project and operational milestones and goals, are achieved withina timelyfashion and establishedbudgets

  • Assumeother duties within theLegal Department, including special projects, as assignedor needed.

Qualifications: 

  • JurisDoctorfromanaccredited lawschool.

  • Active license to practice law and in good standing with at least one state bar.

  • Minimum of6years of employment law experiencein private practice, in-house, or a combination of thetwo.

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of federal employment law, includingwage-and-hour counseling andlitigation experience.

  • Class actionandwage-and-hourcounseling or litigationexperiencerequired

  • International employment law experience a plus

  • Extensiveknowledge ofand experience withCalifornia employmentlaws.

  • Abilityto work at a fast pacewhile managingmultiple priorities anddeadlines.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across the business.

  • Business-minded and strategic, with the ability toprovidepractical legal advice that supports operational goals while managing legal risk.
