ABOUT US

The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities. We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better. It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference. From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.

Looking for a role where you can grow, feel supported, and make a real difference?

At Employment Plus, you'll join a team that genuinely cares - about you and the people we support. Your work will help individuals with a disability, injury or health condition build confidence, independence and a future they can be proud of.

We're excited to welcome a new Employment Consultantto our Inclusive Employment Australia (IEA)program. Unlike traditional employment services, IEA offers:

  • A smaller caseload, giving you time to build genuine relationships
  • A focus on quality outcomes, not volume
  • More hands‑on, personalised support and relationship building

You'll support people across the North West Tasmania community, working with individuals in Burnie, Devonport and surrounding areasas they move toward sustainable employment.

What you'll be doing

This role can be fast-paced and requires you to stay organised and focused on outcomes, but you'll have strong support and clear systems to help you succeed.

A typical day might include:

  • Building supportive, motivating relationships with IEA participants
  • Helping people prepare resumes, job applications and interview skills
  • Connecting with local employers, identifying suitable opportunities and advocating for your participants
  • Providing ongoing support once someone starts work
  • Making referrals to training providers, allied health and community services
  • Keeping accurate records to ensure quality support

About you

You enjoy working with people and want to make a positive impact. You might be:

  • An experienced Employment Consultant looking for a more supportive, relationship‑focused program
  • Someone from a customer service background (call centre or face to face), HR, community services, teaching or other roles where you have demonstrated your ability to quickly build professional relationships, ready to step into a meaningful career where your people skills shine.

If you're a strong communicator, motivating, organised, resilient and calm under pressure, you'll thrive here. A driver's licence and your own car are required as you'll travel between sites across the region.

What we offer

  • Permanent fulltime role with above market remuneration + NFP salary packaging
  • Opportunity to work your fulltime hours across a 9‑day fortnight or accrue a monthly RDO
  • Comprehensive trainingwhen you start + ongoing professional development
  • Discounted fitness memberships, health insurance and retail offers
  • Purchased leave options, access to 12 weeks paid parental leaveand up to 5 days paid Salvos volunteering leave
  • Free counselling and wellbeing initiatives
  • Long‑term career pathwaysacross Employment Plus and the wider Salvation Army network
