Summary of Job Responsibilities
PERA’s Employer Relations team is responsible for analyzing and processing employer contribution reports to guarantee compliance with the provisions governing salary, contribution reporting and PERA membership. This role requires the ability to understand and clearly communicate complex information to employers about PERA’s Defined Benefit (DB), Defined Contribution (DC), 401(k), and 457 Plans as well as PERA’s comprehensive member benefit’s program. The Employer Representative role is also responsible for delivering training and developing resources to enhance employers’ understanding of all PERA Plans and their contribution and data reporting responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Ensure timely processing of employer contribution reports and payroll deposits to maintain compliance with statutory salary and reporting provisions.
- Leverage strong analytical reasoning and mathematical skills to effectively identify discrepancies and resolve reporting issues.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with assigned PERA employers by delivering efficient, reliable customer service, proactively resolving concerns, and providing ad hoc training - including onsite visits when necessary.
- Serve as the primary resource for assigned employers addressing inquiries and resolving issues related to PERA’s comprehensive benefits program, including DB, DC, and voluntary contribution plans, PERA membership questions, and other ancillary PERA programs.
- Develop an understanding of PERA law, rules, and plan documents as they pertain to employer-related topics and become proficient in explaining this governing framework to an audience who is unfamiliar with the content.
- Participate in the development and delivery of various communications, training, and resources for internal and external stakeholders to enhance employer understanding and engagement
- Partner with divisional teams or other departments across the organization to ensure a successful end-to-end process for cross-functional and overlapping transactions.
- Collaborate with team members and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for reducing future errors and improving transactional efficiency through active participation in continuous process improvement.
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency and commitment to meet assigned deadlines, ensuring timely completion of tasks and contributing to the overall efficiency of team operations.
- Manage multiple interruptions while achieving a consistent level of accuracy in completed tasks.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of employer-related systems and databases.
- Participate in training and educational opportunities for ongoing professional development.
- Maintain regular and prompt attendance in the workplace to ensure consistent support for team objectives.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications
- A combination of education and experience equivalent to 3 years in benefits administration, finance or other financial related focuses.
- Analytical and detail-oriented with an aptitude for math
- Effective interpersonal communication skills and relationship building
- Technical/Procedural training experience in small to mid-size group settings preferred
- Ability to learn, interpret, and communicate state statutes, rules, and procedures in a manner easily understood by persons not familiar with the subject or topic
- Ability to understand and effectively explain financial data, member benefits, and retirement pensions is desired
- Ability to deal with sensitive and/or confidential information and situations in a professional manner
- Capable of working successfully both independently and within a team-focused environment
- Knowledge of databases and basic proficiency with Microsoft Office software
- Occasional overnight travel may be necessary when travelling throughout Colorado
