The Foundations for the Future: Try-a-Trade Program for Youth is a pre-apprenticeship initiative designed to introduce youth aged 16–29 in Waterloo Region to high-demand careers in carpentry and related skilled trades. This program addresses Ontario’s skilled trades shortage by providing hands-on technical training, job readiness skills, and paid work placements, while promoting diversity and inclusion among underrepresented youth groups, including women, racialized individuals, and newcomers.
The Employer Liaison/Coach, reporting to the Workforce Development Coordinator, will work with the project team to deliver program activities directly, including liaising with partners to develop or enhance a customised program curriculum. They will organise and facilitate the delivery of information sessions and hybrid workshops for youth and employers; facilitate workshops; conduct group assessments; and maintain and compile accurate data and information as dictated by Achēv and MLITSD reporting requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Start-Up and Implementation:
• Organize and facilitate the delivery of Information Sessions to youth and partners, providing specific and general information about the Foundations for the Future project.
• Conduct ongoing promotion, outreach, engagement, and collaboration with Blue Branch and employer partners to enhance and develop training and learning activities that enable the development of the critical skills required for employment in the targeted occupations in carpentry and related skilled trades.
• Deliver hybrid workshops for youth and employers and liaise with subject matter experts to coach and mentor youth program participants.
• Provide ongoing support to youth participants on issues, such as apprenticeship registration support and guidance, confirming/rescheduling/rebooking enrollment to the program for participants’ success both during and after the placement
• In conjunction with the Workforce Development Coordinator, review workshop schedule and ensure timely delivery of employability skills training workshops and adjust, where needed, to meet participant needs
• Assist in the ongoing development and effective implementation of program-related policies and procedures to ensure the follow-through of program guidelines.
• Provide a variety of clerical duties along with supporting project outreach and marketing efforts

Recruitment and Outreach:
• Conduct information sessions and outreach to engage and recruit youth for the program, supporting participants’ selection and enrollment. The outreach and awareness campaigns will promote career opportunities for underrepresented youth.
• Develop and deliver outreach-oriented presentations to potential community partners in addition to other outreach strategies to ensure consistent program visibility and relationship development in the community.
• Conduct screening of prospective youth participants, skill and career readiness assessments in collaboration with delivery partners.
• Implement the planned marketing strategies among community partners and at community events.
• Provide a variety of clerical duties along with supporting project outreach and marketing efforts.
Reporting and Communication:
• Work with the project team to conduct program evaluations at key points/milestones and collate and maintain program statistics and narrative information in Achēv’s CRM database.
• Work with the project team to accurately input key data and statistics for monthly and quarterly reports, as dictated by Achēv and MLITSD, for the Program Manager’s review.
• Communicate with clients as well as partners (CWB and employer partners) in adherence to Achēv’s privacy and confidentiality policies.
• Assessing and addressing project concerns in conjunction with the Workforce Development Coordinator in a timely manner.
• Maintain positive and clear communication with other team members to facilitate teamwork and successful achievement of expected outcomes as dictated by the funding agreement

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Completion of a post-secondary University Degree or College Diploma in social services or related field2-3 years of experience working directly with and engaging employers as well as youth from equity-deserving groupsExperience in workshop facilitation, with knowledge of life skills, employability/essential skills and leadership development
• Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, including the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy with employers as well as coach youth with their job search and retention efforts.
• Knowledge of labour market information, job search, acquisition, and retention techniques, and local service provider organisations, associations, and networks in the GTAStrong time management and organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities effectively within a fast-paced environment.Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, Canva, Zoom, and Teams.
• Experience with various administrative tasks such as data entry, tracking, data collection, report writing, etc. Able and willing to travel within the Waterloo Region as dictated by project needs
• Provision of a Criminal Reference Check if required for specific funder/program demands.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Salary: $56,347
