About the Role
The Employer Engagement and Apprenticeship Officer will provide a tailored service to support employers to recruit and, in doing so, increase opportunities for individuals who are furthest from the labour market.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting Nottingham's economic growth and helping residents access sustainable employment opportunities. Working across a diverse range of sectors and employers, you will help shape recruitment solutions that meet business needs while creating pathways into work, apprenticeships and skills development for local people. The role offers significant scope to build strong partnerships, influence employer engagement activity and contribute to the delivery of key employment and skills priorities across the city.
Taking an employer-focused approach, the post holder will work with employers to develop bespoke packages of recruitment and people development solutions based upon their workforce needs. In addition, the post holder will have a particular focus on stimulating and nurturing demand for apprenticeships from employers (with a focus on specific sectors as defined by the project), increasing the number of apprenticeship vacancies and supporting the uptake of these opportunities by unemployed residents.
The Employer Engagement and Apprenticeship Officer will play a key role in connecting local employers with talent across the city, helping businesses recruit the people they need while creating meaningful employment opportunities for residents, particularly those furthest from the labour market.
The role will also involve building strong partnerships with training providers and delivery organisations to ensure programmes are aligned with the needs of both employers and local communities. By working collaboratively with partners, the post holder will help strengthen local provision, improve performance and ensure that employment and skills initiatives deliver real impact for residents and businesses across the city.
Working within a dynamic and evolving policy landscape, the post holder will contribute to the delivery of key project outcomes and performance targets, including those linked to programme objectives, local demographic priorities, the Council Plan and relevant national government initiatives. The role requires a flexible and proactive approach, adapting activity to respond to changing priorities while ensuring the service continues to meet the needs of employers, residents and the wider local economy.
