Job Description

The Employee Relations Representative II serves as an experienced HR professional responsible for managing complex employee relations matters. This role partners closely with employees, people leaders, HR business partners, and legal/compliance teams to ensure fair, consistent, and legally compliant resolution of workplace issues. The position requires strong investigative skills, sound judgment, and the ability to balance employee advocacy with business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee relations issues, including performance concerns, policy violations, attendance, workplace conflict, harassment, discrimination, and retaliation complaints.
  • Conduct impartial and thorough workplace investigations, including interviewing witnesses, gathering documentation, analyzing findings, and preparing written investigation reports.
  • Advise managers and employees on company policies, procedures, corrective actions, and best practices for employee management.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners and leadership to recommend appropriate corrective actions, up to and including termination, in alignment with company policy and applicable laws.
  • Support and guide leaders through performance management, disciplinary processes, and documentation requirements.
  • Ensure consistency and equity in the application of employee relations practices across the organization.
  • Identify trends and root causes from employee relations cases and recommend preventative or corrective solutions.
  • Support initiatives related to employee engagement, workplace culture, and conflict prevention.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records of employee relations cases and investigations.
  • Stay current on employment laws and regulations and ensure practices comply with local, state, and federal requirements

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 + years of progressive Human Resources experience, with a strong focus on employee relations and investigations.
  • Experience handling complex or sensitive ER cases independently.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Solid understanding of employment laws, HR policies, and corrective action practices.
  • Proven experience conducting workplace investigations and writing clear, defensible reports.
  • Strong communication, listening, and conflict‑resolution skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and coach leaders at multiple organizational levels.
  • Strong analytical and decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficiency with HR systems and case management tools.
