Job Description

Employee Relations Consultants work to establish, maintain, and enhance the relationship between an employer and its employees.They are responsible for resolving employee-related issues, providing advice and support to managers on employee matters, ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations, and ensuring that the workplace remains free from conflict and that any disputes or issues are dealt with effectively and fairly. The role of the Employee Relations Consultant is to promote a positive, inclusive workplace culture and ensure that employee relations are managed in a fair and consistent manner.

This is a temporary position with an expected duration of 3 months.

Essential Functions:

  • Investigate workplace issues/concerns raised through internal Company channels and some externally filed complaints, including complaints of employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other violations of Company policy
  • Exhibit sound judgment in recommending outcomes for investigations
  • Partner with Human Resources, Support Central & Field Leaders to ensure proper handling and disposition of cases involving all employees
  • Work with the Office of the General Counsel, on case reviews at the legal support level
  • Prepare, track, and maintain appropriate investigation documentation
  • Develop and implement investigation plans
  • Drive timely closure of open cases/concerns in alignment with Employee Relations Service Level Agreements
  • Manage employee data and statements in a highly confidential manner
  • Draft concise and clear investigation reports
  • Partner cross functionally on investigations, discipline, performance management Title 7 & Title 9 claims, and other aspects of employee relations
  • Serve as a strategic partner, promoting ethical and compliant behavior that is aligned with company policy and government regulations, with fair and equal treatment for the workforce
  • Coach, counsel, and educate employees on HR policies, performance management and processes
  • Analyze case activity and determine trends/recommendations for proactive actions
  • Preparing reports on employee relations activities and trends for senior leaders
  • Designing and delivering training programs on employee relations topics
  • Foster an effective, inclusive work environment/culture and relationships, balancing employee advocacy with stewardship of company goals and values
  • Conduct other duties as necessary to align with EEO regulations, and other internal and external policies and directives

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Must be willing to work Pacific Standard time zones
  • Must have knowledge of California employment and labor law
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
  • Excellent customer service skills with both internal and external customers
  • Capable of working with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
  • Proven experience as an Employee Relations Consultant or similar role
  • Excellent working knowledge of process and policy management, reporting, investigations, and federal and state labor laws and employment regulations
  • Experience in conducting investigations and resolving disputes
  • Ability to use reason and de-escalation skills to manage difficult or emotional situations
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis, solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables
  • High degree of professionalism, ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion, and instill trust while advising others
  • Ability to interpret technical information and documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, and to write effective communications such as case reports in a clear concise and compelling manner
  • Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and interpersonal
  • Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficient time management, organizational skills and ability to meet established deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Compensation based on position, education and experience. Bi-weekly paid.

  • This position is eligible for paid time off. All Corporate employees are enrolled in our Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO) plan.
