The BIOLOGY DEPARTMENT OF EMORY UNIVERSITY in Atlanta, GA (https://biology.emory.edu/) is a broadly based biology department within Emory’s College of Arts and Sciences. We seek candidates for a tenure-track position at any rank in the area of ecology.
The Department of Biology is highly collegial and collaborative, and Emory's campus offers a collaborative and well-resourced research environment in a compact footprint. The Emory population biology, ecology and evolution community includes labs across Emory College, the School of Medicine, and the Rollins School of Public Health. The greater Atlanta ecology community – including Georgia Tech, Georgia State University, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other institutions – provides further research opportunities. Finally, the metro Atlanta area provides opportunities for science outreach and education beyond the university.
The successful applicant will train and mentor PhD students through the Population Biology, Ecology & Evolution program (https://biomed.emory.edu/PROGRAM_SITES/PBEE/). The applicant will also contribute to the department’s undergraduate teaching mission. Competitive nine-month salary will be determined based on the quality of application materials and the current salary distribution within the biology department.
The successful candidate will use empirical approaches to test fundamental ecological theory. We are particularly interested in complementing existing strengths through hiring of a faculty member whose research focuses on population, community, evolutionary, or behavioral ecology, and who can teach both lecture- and field-based ecology courses. Successful applicants will have a PhD, post-doctoral research experience, a record of productivity, and a commitment to evidence-based undergraduate teaching and mentoring.

3) A description of prior research and plan for developing an independent, externally funded research program
4) A statement of experience and interests in teaching, including how the candidate will contribute to the Biology department’s undergraduate teaching program
5) A statement of experience and interests in mentorship, service, and/or community outreach
Items 3-5 are combined to one document and should not exceed 5 pages in total. Applicants should arrange to have three confidential letters of recommendation submitted to Interfolio on their behalf.
