Cedars-Sinai is a Level 1 Trauma Center with Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, Level III Geriatric Care ED, STEMI Receiving Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center and Paramedic Base Station. The ED is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week available to all people in need. To serve a growing patient population and offer more specialty healthcare in the facility, our upcoming ED expansion will increase the number of care spaces from 60 to 100, and include a trauma suite and behavioral health bay.

As an Emergency/Trauma Resuscitation Registered Nurse IV in our ED you are responsible and accountable for the supervision and application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care for the specialty patient population.

  • You are an expert clinician who demonstrates a high standard of knowledge and expertise in a specialty as well as general nursing.
  • You consistently demonstrate excellence in all areas of nursing practice including nursing care delivery, staff education, research, and collaboration.
  • You manage complex, unpredictable patient care situations and are a nursing leader.
  • Deliver at least 2 trauma and/or resuscitation training sessions per year.
  • Participate on ED and Trauma Performance Improvement Committees (PIC) and other PICS or councils, as directed by ED leadership.
  • Identify, plan and evaluate clinical, quality, and operational change improvements as pertaining to the trauma/resuscitation/critical care patient, in collaboration with ED Physician Leadership and the NPD team.
  • Participate in ED-related trauma/resuscitation/critical care research activities.
  • Provide input into yearly staff performance evaluations.
  • Provide orientation and clinical mentorship to staff who are at a beginner to intermediate skill level in the care of trauma/resuscitation patients.
  • Provide clinical expertise and support to staff caring for critical patients located in other areas of the ED, as requested, and in collaboration with the NPD team.
  • Demonstrate leadership through initiative, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements:

  • BSN or higher from an accredited school of nursing

License/Certification/Registration Requirements:

  • California State RN License required
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications (ACLS, PALS) (expiration dates need to be 60 days or more from the hire date).
  • Maintain instructor-level certification in a minimum of 2 trauma and/or resuscitation courses.
  • EDAP or ENPC and TNCC or ATCN required
  • Nursing Specialty Certification required (i.e. CEN)

Experience:

  • Five (5) years of acute RN experience in the specialty area
  • Meets specialty specific clinical competencies for assigned area
  • Has maintained satisfactory Clinical Nurse III status for a minimum of one (1) year
  • Have an overall performance evaluation of “Strongly Meets” or higher.
  • Meets clinical criteria and protocol of Clinical Nurse IV
