Job Description

The Veterinary Emergency Clinic is an equipped trauma and emergency facility that offers many services. Our team members are trained to handle most life-threatening emergencies that can occur anytime during nights, weekends, and holidays. These emergencies include, but are not limited to, animals being hit by cars, gunshot wounds, lacerations, heatstroke, trouble breathing, fever, infection, snakebite wounds, seizures, and many other conditions.
We are seeking an experienced, organized, and service-oriented Veterinary Technician to join our team. You will support our veterinarians during triage, examinations and medical treatments and provide direct care to our animal patients. Candidates must be comfortable working with canine and feline animals and know how to restrain them properly for evaluation and procedures. You also need to be familiar with proper cleaning and sanitizing techniques to ensure our facility is safe for our clients.
Responsibilities and Duties:

This position requires solid veterinary knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and skills such as:
  • Maintaining medical records
  • Preparing surgical suite and surgical patients
  • Filling prescriptions
  • Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging
  • Providing compassionate high-quality care for boarded and hospitalized pets
  • Responsible for ensuring and maintaining proper cleaning protocols for all animal care areas
  • Provide client education when appropriate
  • Alerting DVM promptly of any patient related issues
  • Feed all animals their required diet and in the appropriate rations
  • Ensure all dishes, laundry, cages are sanitized daily
  • Restock supplies
  • Excellent animal handling skills
  • Critical evaluation and observation skills
  • Have basic organizational and computer skills as well as strong technician skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills with ability to compose routine correspondence
  • Possess the ability to work independently, efficiently, and calmly under challenging conditions
  • Ability to appropriately handle, lift and restrain animals (dogs, cats) and stand for long periods of time
Technical Requirements:
  • I.V. catheter placement
  • Phlebotomy
  • In-house laboratory
  • Surgical prep
  • Anesthesia/surgical monitoring
  • X-Rays
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Two or more years of experience as a veterinary technician
  • Must be flexible with scheduling and able to work weekends.
  • Experience with veterinary software (e.g. Neo, AVImark, Cornerstone)
  • Ability to work regular weekends, evenings and/or overnights
