Job Description

Performs duties to support the Emergency Department and patient care functions. Under the general direction of guidance of the ED Registered Nurs, the Emergency Room Technician (ERT) functions as an integral part of the patient care team. Performs to the level of the scope of practice for the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) held by the ERT. Under the general direction and guidance of the Emergency Room Director, CNA lead and Charge Nurse on duty, the ED Registration role functions as an integral part of the patient care team. Performs to the level of clinical skill and preparation for delivering quality patient care.

Requirements

  • Current BLS certification.
  • Hold and maintain Certified Nurse Assistant certification by the State of Idaho or Basic/Advanced EMT within 6 months of hire.
  • Obtain current BLS certification.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Experience using computer software systems to enter patient data, send email, and other electronic data accurately and efficiently.
  • Ability and willingness to demonstrate and maintain competency as required for the job title or unit/area of assignment.
  • Excellent communication skills to include written and verbal comprehension and expression.
  • Ability and willingness to work with patient’s growth and developmental needs particularly related to the age of patients in unit/area of assignment.
  • Ability to manage a chaotic work environment related to changing patient needs; including working with patients with acute, chronic, and complex disease processes and those that are dying.
  • Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with standards for performance improvement and organizational values.
  • Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with the principles for service excellence.
  • Computer experience Ability to use sound judgement and cope with potentially stressful situations.

  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Frequent standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting/turning from waist pushing/pulling objects on rollers/wheels bending. Frequent walking, reaching above shoulder level, moving objects horizontally (left to right) and vertically (up and down) up to 25 lbs, sometimes up to 50 lbs, employees are to ask for assistance when lifting more than 50 lbs, limited sitting. Frequent handling (holding, grasping, working with hands), fine finger manipulation (pinching, picking, working with fingers). Senses needed to perform the essential functions of the position. Frequent need to hear and talk in quiet/noisy surroundings and talk/hear with over the telephone. Vision for near/far acuity, depth perception, color vision.
