Job Description

As a front-line figure in ensuring readiness and compliance, the coordinator will be physically present at emergency scenes, led by example in training and fitness sessions, and engage directly with ERT and RIT captains on-site. Collaboration with municipal and external stakeholders is a key part of safeguarding personnel and resources, and this role is at the heart of those efforts, requiring a visible presence and a hands-on approach.

Your responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Provide expert advice and implementation of best practice systems and programs within emergency preparedness and response.
  • Develop and review Emergency management processes including First Aid, Business Continuity Management, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Lobby with relevant parties such as regulatory authorities and interest groups.
  • Conduct audits of emergency preparedness and response plans.
  • Administer necessary systems and ensure all training and projects align with operational standards and business continuity management risk index.
  • Oversee the management of the emergency response fleet (Fire truck, fire RIV, Ladder Truck etc.)
  • Lobbying with relevant parties such as regulatory authorities, I&APs,
  • Audits of emergency preparedness and response plans during
  • all phases of operations
  • Develop, and constantly review, First Aid, Business Continuity Management policies, guidelines, procedures and Codes of Practice to meet the needs of Valterra Platinum.

Qualifications

  • Qualification in Safety & Fire Rescue
  • Qualification in Fire Fighting, Hazardous material response, Industrial confined space rescue. Fire apparatus driver/operator
  • Completion of A3 or Risk Related Training
  • Successful completion of COMSOC 1 & 2
  • Qualification in Advanced Trauma/Life Support and
  • Occupational Health would be an advantage

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years on industrial Safety & Firefighting experience
  • Process plant knowledge and experience will be an advantage

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Must demonstrate leadership skills and take initiatives
  • Code 8 (B) driver’s license
  • Effective communication both oral and in writing
  • Be capable to assess
