PATIENT INFORMATION

  • Average Daily Volume: Approximately 77 patients per day (28,000 annual volume)

  • Case Mix: General Emergency Medicine, Level 3 Trauma, diverse acute and non-acute cases

FACILITY INFORMATION

  • No. of Beds in Department: 15 ED beds

  • Trauma Level: Level 3

  • EMR System: Epic

  • Support Staff Available: RNs, NP/PA coverage (16 hours daily)

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Board: BE/BC in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine

  • Licenses: Active unrestricted Louisiana Medical License, DEA License with LA address, LA Controlled Substance License, Supervising Physician License (for PA supervision)

  • DEA / CDS: Active DEA with LA address; LA Controlled Substance (CDS) required

  • Certifications: ACLS, ATLS, PALS (required unless ABEM-certified and actively participating in MOC)

  • Experience: Residency trained in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine; new graduates accepted

  • Other Qualifications: Case logs past 2 years; CMEs past 2 years; immunizations (Flu, TB, COVID-19); eligibility to supervise NP/PA providers

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide high-quality emergency medical care to patients of all ages presenting to the Emergency Department

  • Supervise and collaborate with Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants during assigned shifts

  • Manage patient flow to ensure timely evaluation, treatment, and disposition, supporting the facility’s efficient ER metrics

  • Perform and oversee clinical procedures consistent with Emergency Medicine scope, including sedation when necessary

  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation in the EPIC electronic medical record system
