Supplemental information

Additional Information

  • Schedule The current schedule is a 48/96 shift rotation and is subject to change based on operational needs, system metrics, and District requirements. EMT's are scheduled to work on a PRN/Per Diem basis, as-needed.
  • Work Environment EMTs should be prepared for the realities of field EMS, including emergency scenes, residences, roadways, outdoor settings, healthcare facilities, all-weather conditions, extended shifts, physically demanding activity, exposure to emergency scenes and infectious materials, and patient movement requiring lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling with assistance.
  • Training All employees are expected to maintain required certifications and credentials in current status, comply with District policies and clinical protocols, maintain confidentiality of patient and organizational information, and conduct themselves with professionalism, dignity, and respect.

Why Work Here?

What uniquely draws clinicians and EMS professionals to this specific district includes:
  • Pioneering "Beyond the Ambulance" Medicine: Unlike traditional services that only run lights-and-sirens to an ER, UPRHSD gives paramedics and EMTs the platform to practice true Mobile Integrated Healthcare through their dedicated Community Paramedic programProviders handle everything from complex mental health interventions to in-home preventative treatments for residents who don't need the emergency room.
  • True Clinical Autonomy in High-Stakes Environments: Operating across a sprawling mountain district means providers regularly manage high-acuity trauma and multi-county corridor responses where critical thinking and advanced field autonomy are genuinely utilized, rather than just following rigid city-transit protocols.
  • Special District Support & Stability: Because it is an independent tax-funded special district rather than a private, for-profit transfer service, it provides local government-backed stability while offering tailored perks like fully funded healthcare packages and targeted wellness stipends meant to counter operational burn-out.
