
Job Description
Answers requests for emergency medical service and enters them into the system using the appropriate protocol system. Dispatches calls and coordinates with the appropriate resources as dictated by guidelines.
Job Responsibility
Answer requests for emergency medical service utilizing provided Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS) cards / ProQA for proper prioritization and pre-arrival instructions; adheres to guidelines.
Works on mostly routine and transactional assignments, guided by policies, procedures, guidelines and precedent.
Exercises independent judgment on basic or moderately complex issues regarding job and related tasks.
Responds to and coordinates with posted units following the Deployment Monitor in an expedient manner.
Follows dispatch orders adhering to approved policies and procedures.
Maintains accurate records for ambulances.
Elevates questions, problems and significant challenges to more senior team members for direction or subject matter expertise on new or unprecedented assignments.
Handles and coordinates scheduled transports in a timely manner.
Clarifies policies or procedures, and any other matters that may occur, as appropriate.
Participates in all required safety and back-up drills.

Job Qualification
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
1-3 years of technical experience, required.
Valid New York State Department of Health Emergency Medical Technician certification, required.
AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification, required.
