Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Emergency Medical Technician $29.909 to $36.572

Travel Required: No

The Emergency Medical Technician/Primary Care Paramedic is responsible for responding to emergent and non-emergent calls for service; provides initial assessment, treatment and transport of ill or injured persons at the basic life support level. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

Education

  • Primary Care Paramedic Certificate from an approved educational institute
  • Grade 12

Licenses

  • Valid Class 4 driver's license
  • International Trauma Life Support Certificate (ITLS)

Other Education and Training

  • Emergency Vehicle Operations training
  • CPR/AED Provider Certification

Competencies

  • Advanced - Interpersonal skills
  • Advanced - Communication skills

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Ability to function effectively in periods of high stress/emergent situations
  • Thorough knowledge of the SHA and EMS policies and procedures
  • Knowledge in applicable tools and equipment
