Number of Hours per Rotation: 14 shifts of 12 hours per 4 weeks

Relief: No

Float: No

Hours of Work: EMS Hours

Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Emergency Medical Technician $29.909 to $36.572

Travel Required: No

Successful applicants will be working in the brief and social detox program. The brief program is a 24 bed unit which provides a safe place to stay for a short period of time. It allows time to rest and recover from the effects of intoxication or drug abuse. The social detox area has 25 beds and clients can stay up to 14 days in order to withdraw from substances and begin to learn about recovery. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

Experience

  • Candidates with experience in Mental Health & Addictions will be given priority.

Education

  • Primary Care Paramedic diploma (PCP)

Competencies

  • Advanced - Technical skills
  • Advanced - High level interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients and colleagues

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Knowledge of medication management.
  • Ability to de-escalate, assess, and engage with MHAS clients.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to function effectively in high stress and in emergency situations

Other Information

  • Registered/eligible with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics at PCP/EMT level
  • HSAS seniority in the SHA will be considered under the selection criteria
