Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Emergency Medical Technician $29.909 to $36.572

Reporting to the Manager or designate for the area of province they are working, the Emergency Medical Services - EMT/PCP responds to emergency and non-emergency events, and provides assessment, treatment and transportation of the ill or injured persons consistent with The Saskatchewan Ambulance Act and regulations; Saskatchewan College of Paramedics (SCoP) Clinical Practice Protocols; The Paramedics Act and bylaws; and Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) policies, procedures and work standards.

Education

  • Primary Care Paramedic Certificate from an approved educational institute

Licenses

  • Valid Class 4 driver's license

Other Education and Training

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate (BCLS)
  • Current CPR certification
  • International Trauma Life Support Certificate (ITLS)

  • Able to safely and consistently lift/load stretcher on a regular basis
  • Ability to function effectively in high stress and in emergency situations
  • Ability to be resilient

  • Physically able to perform the duties of pre-hospital emergency care
  • Familiar with the SK Ministry of Health Ambulance Information System.
  • Conflict resolution skills to effectively handle difficult issues
  • Decision making through the application of knowledge and critical thinking
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Knowledge of EMS Practitioners legislation/protocols/scope of practice
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office programs (Word/Excel/Outlook)
  • Demonstrates the ability to be resourceful and to adapt to changing conditions
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate emergency vehicles safely and effectively
  • Ability to exhibit situational awareness

Other Information

  • Registered/eligible with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics at PCP/EMT level
  • Scheduled hours of work may be reduced during the rotation stipulated when a statutory holiday is recognized during that period.
