The EMT PRN performs various technical duties and tasks which include assisting with direct and indirect treatment and care of patients.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:

  1. Performs EKGs, venipuncture (not applicable to the Emergency Department), IV skills, and bedside testing.

  2. Provides emergency first aid treatment.

  3. Responds to medical emergencies.

  4. Performs basic patient care with consideration for age and developmental stage.

  5. Transports patients by wheelchair or stretcher.

  6. Notifies nurse of abnormal findings or changes in patient status.

  7. Performs clerical functions.

  8. Accesses and navigates through Epic.

Qualifications:


Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of the Basic Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B TX) or Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic (EMT-P) curriculum as defined by the State of Texas.
  • State Registration as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B TX) or Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic (EMT-P).
  • Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1 plus years of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) experience.
  • Current JPS recognized Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Level 1 EKG Competency (subsequent to hire).
