Job Description

Assists in coordination of the development and implementation of surge capacity plans with local health departments, emergency management and local health providers. Assists in coordinating training programs and emergency operation drills. Assists organization and outside agencies with emergency mitigation plans. Serves as a liaison to local municipal and federal emergency management authorities. Participates in the System Emergency Disaster and Response Team..

Job Responsibility

  • Assists in the development and implementation of surge capacity plans with local health and emergency agencies.
  • Assists in developing and implementing training classes and drills in preparation for bioterrorism emergencies.
  • Learns techniques and protocols for emergency response and mitigation; develops system-wide goals and standards for emergency response and mitigation.
  • Collaborates and communicates with outside agencies as needed.
  • Assists management in the development of policies and procedures, procurement and design of equipment and supplies necessary for training exercises.
  • Prepares reports and maintains all documentation as required by the organization, quality management, etc.
  • Monitors department activities, reviews policies and procedures and makes recommendations for improvements as necessary.
  • Operates under general guidance and work assignments are varied and require interpretation and independent decisions on course of action.

Job Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience, required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Management, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Homeland Security, Criminal Justice, or a closely related field, Strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training content for adult learners strongly preferred.
  • Experience working within a healthcare environment (hospital, clinic, health system) is highly desirable.
  • Experience with exercise design, conduct, and evaluation strongly preferred. (e.g., tabletop, functional, full-scale exercises).
  • NIMS/ICS Certifications: IS-100.c, IS-200.c, IS-700.b, IS-800.d (or latest versions) strongly preferred.
