Accountable for ensuring that the organization is prepared to respond to disruptive events with effective emergency response, crisis management, and business continuity plans. The Emergency Management and Business Continuity Coordinator has overall responsibility for effective emergency response, crisis management, and business continuity plans. Provides leadership of the business continuity, emergency preparedness, and emergency response programs exercise design and execution.
Responsible for maintaining emergency response and business continuity plans.
Coordinates emergency planning activities, including training and emergency preparedness drills.
Represents the company on all emergency response and business continuity unified command drills.
Establishes and maintains Mutual Assistance Agreements with outside organizations.
Designs and deploys Incident Command System training for appropriate staff. Serves as an advisor to the Incident Commander during emergency response situations.
Serves as liaison with Federal, State, and Local agencies, Market Participants, and mutual-aid partners to coordinate continuity and restoration plans, activities, and services.
Responsible for Business Continuity contract administration
Responsible for short- and long-term planning
Maintains working knowledge of all legal and regulatory requirements
Provides support services assistance to other departments including IT, Grid Operations and Martlet operations.
Designs and conducts exercises of the various department’s emergency response and recovery plans.
Using ICS structure and business continuity principles and concepts design, train and conduct full scale exercises.
Conduct basic and advanced ICS/NIMS training.
Develops mitigation strategies and creates scenarios to re-establish operations in the event of business interruptions.
Reviews and evaluates business impact and risk assessment to recommend methods and procedures.
Develops policies, procedures, and methodologies for the reliable operation of the Emergency Management and Business Continuity functions.
Responsible for working with senior leadership to develop budgets
Ensures that all company Policies and Procedures are followed
Researches future trends in the industry and remains expert in the technology
Understands the basic principles, theories and concepts related to the profession and learns how to apply them within the ERCOT culture.
Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.
Contributes to specific objectives and outcomes as directed.
Requires minimum 2 years job related work experience in excess of degree requirements
Bachelor's Degree : Emergency management, Public Administration, Business Administration, Public Administration, Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Risk Management or related field (Required)
Master's Degree : Emergency management, Public Administration, Business Administration, Public Administration, Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Risk Management or related field (Preferred)
or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required

Expected Salary Range:
$75,273 - $127,931

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) manages the flow of electric power to 27 million Texas customers - representing about 90 percent of the state's electric load. As the independent system operator (ISO) for the region, ERCOT schedules power on an electric grid that connects more than 54,100 miles of transmission lines and 1,250+ generation units, including Private Use Networks. ERCOT also performs financial settlement for the competitive wholesale bulk-power market and administers retail switching for 8 million premises in competitive choice areas.
