EMEA Financial Controller

We are looking for an experienced EMEA Financial Controller to join our Oslo-based Group Finance function. This is a broad controller role with full end-to-end ownership, at the heart of Rystad Energy's international finance function.

You will take primary ownership of the accounting for Rystad Energy AS (Norway), with scope expanding progressively to cover our UK entity and other EMEA entities. You will also work closely with the Head of Group Accounting, contributing to group consolidation, statutory and management reporting, and group processes across Rystad Energy’s international structure.

This role suits a self-driven controller with solid accounting knowledge, a sharp eye for detail, and the confidence to operate independently across a complex, fast-paced environment. We are looking for someone who embraces technology, picks up new systems quickly, and is comfortable leveraging AI tools to work smarter. This role reports to the Head of Group Accounting, based at the company’s headquarters in Oslo, Norway.

What You'll Do

• Own the end-to-end accounting for Rystad Energy AS — from day-to-day transactions through month-end close and statutory reporting — with scope expanding to Rystad Energy UK and other EMEA entities.
• Ensure timely and accurate VAT, tax, and other regulatory reporting and filings
• Support group consolidation and reporting in close collaboration with the Head of Group Accounting.
• Serve as the primary accounting contact for EMEA entities, building strong relationships with auditors, tax advisors, banking partners, and internal stakeholders.
• Coordinate external audits and own the year-end documentation.
• Develop and maintain internal control frameworks to mitigate risk and improve the accuracy of financial information
• Identify and drive improvements to financial processes and systems.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related discipline
• 3–7 years of accounting experience in a controller, audit, or similar role; familiarity with IFRS is an advantage
• Proven ability to take end-to-end ownership of an accounting function, including close, reconciliations, and regulatory reporting
• Hands-on experience with accounting and consolidation systems
• Comfortable working with AI tools and technology
• Self-driven and comfortable working autonomously with a high degree of responsibility
• Experience working in a multi-entity or international environment is an advantage
• Proven ability to manage relationships with external parties, including auditors, tax authorities, and local advisors, as well as internal stakeholders across functions and geographies
• Strong communicator with the ability to present financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders in an international environment
• Fluent in English (written and spoken); Norwegian is an advantage.
