Iron Mountain is seeking a motivated and experienced EMEA Construction Safety Manager to join our Iron Mountain Data Centre (IMDC) team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the development and implementation of an effective Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) strategy for construction projects across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) to mitigate risk, ensure compliance, and safeguard personnel, assets, and the brand. You will partner closely with contractors, site leadership, and regional project managers within the fast-paced Iron Mountain Data Centre division to build collaborative relationships and facilitate overall health and safety programs.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will:
Safety Strategy & Compliance Management Monitor and enforce compliance with relevant European safety regulations, Environmental Permits, and global EHS standards across all regional construction sites.
Risk Assessment & Mitigation Conduct thorough risk assessments for high-risk work activities and work directly with subcontractors to implement safety measures that protect workers, equipment, and the environment.
Incident Management & Investigation Establish and lead protocols for reporting, investigating, and determining root causes for accidents, near misses, and hazardous conditions, implementing swift corrective actions.
Safety Culture & Training Coordination Coordinate and facilitate targeted safety training programs, including site-specific inductions, qualified worker programs, and emergency preparedness plans to promote a proactive safety culture.
Audits & Regulatory Liaison Conduct regular site inspections, lead safety accountability meetings with contractors, and confidently facilitate walkthroughs and communications with governmental regulatory authorities.
What You’ll Bring
The ideal candidate will have:
Numerous years of experience in construction safety management, preferably within a multinational or data center environment.
Strong knowledge of European construction safety regulations, risk analysis methodologies, and environmental management practices (such as Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure regulations).
Proven ability in leading high-impact incident investigations, executing safety audits, and effectively diffusing crucial, high-pressure conversations with contractors and site leadership.
Educational Background A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred), alongside highly desirable professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or OSHA.
Operational Readiness Proficiency in safety management software, Google Workspace (GSuite), and a willingness to travel extensively within designated European regions as required.
