Job Description

The State Street Investment Management’s (IM) Business & Technology Risk and Resilience (BTRR) team is first line function that partners with business teams to properly manage operational, technology, and regulatory risk, together with business and technology resiliency. Thie role serves as a strategic advisor to first-line business functions, driving a strong and resilient control environment across State Street Investment Management. This role emphasizes risk excellence, operational resilience, business continuity, and incident management, while fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across global teams.

Key Responsibilities:

As the EMEA and APAC Business Continuity Director Lead you will be responsible for:

Business Continuity & Operational Resilience

  • Lead and support development and maintenance of Business Continuity (BC) plans, including:
  • Business Impact Analyses (BIAs), Focal Impact Analysis (FIA) and traceability matrices (TM)
  • Identification of critical processes, dependencies, and recovery strategies
  • Coordinate and validate business continuity testing, including scenario-based exercises and application recovery validation.
  • Act as primary liaison for Enterprise Resiliency Office and ensure alignment with enterprise and operational resiliency standards.
  • Responsible for supporting the execution and update of the legal entity operational resilience self-assessments.
  • Support management with DORA compliance.
  • Maintain readiness for crisis response, including 24x7 availability for incident escalation and coordination.
  • Oversee call trees, notification protocols, and stakeholder communication during incidents and tests.
  • Partner with Global Security and Emergency Coordinators to enhance preparedness and response capabilities.
  • Promote awareness and engagement across business continuity stakeholders and drive continuous program enhancements.

Incident Management & Response

  • Lead Incident Management program execution, including governance, training, and process oversight.
  • Manage high-priority incidents, ensuring timely escalation, coordination, and resolution.
  • Serve as Secretary for Executive Review Council, presenting incidents and associated risk themes to senior governance forums.
  • Drive continuous improvement through working groups and process optimization initiatives.
  • Lead development of incident reporting and analytics, delivering insights to senior management and governance committees.
  • Support transformation initiatives, including system enhancements and operating model improvements.
  • Oversee remediation tracking and attestation processes.

First-Line Advisory & Control Environment Enhancement

  • Act as a trusted advisor to business functions by strengthening the control environment and enhancing risk assessment capabilities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, embedding risk-based, forward-looking practices across business activities.
  • Influence decision-making by providing timely, informed, and risk-based guidance.
  • Escalate issues appropriately and promote efficient, effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Lead prioritization efforts and act as a change agent to support transformation initiatives.

Leadership & Organizational Effectiveness

  • Mentor, develop, and motivate team members to achieve their full potential.
  • Foster a strong risk culture, including a “speak-up” environment and continuous learning mindset.
  • Deliver results that support enterprise-wide objectives and strategic priorities.
  • Provide innovative, business-aligned solutions leveraging knowledge of business lines and control frameworks.
  • Support organizational transformation initiatives, including process optimization and capability enhancement.

This role requires 3 days of office presence.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of financial services experience with a large financial services firm or advisory/consulting firm including experience as an internal auditor, public accountant, risk or compliance officer
  • Strong expertise in operational resilience, business continuity, and incident management frameworks
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive cross-functional alignment
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Independent strategic thinker with an understanding of regulatory, operational, and technology risks in financial services, preferably within investment management function(s)
  • Strong organizational awareness with ability to facilitate and resolve conflicts; ability to make informed, risk optimized decisions under time pressure
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to work on global cross-functional projects
  • Strong ability to lead through influence and collaborate to drive results within the organization
  • Ability to manage and coach teams to produce efficient and high-quality deliverables
  • Experience working with remote offshore and regional teams
  • Willingness to operate flexible working hours to facilitate team meetings with US & APAC-based colleagues.
  • Self-motivated professional with the ability to work within deadlines and meet goals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to adapt to various situations and audiences
  • Excellent skills in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and process mapping tools

Minimum Salary:

zł282 000 Annual

The minimum salary quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate ultimately works outside of this primary location, the applicable minimum salary may differ.​

Salary will be determined based on factors such as the position, type of work performed, individual skills, job description, working hours, diligence, initiative, self-management, length of employment, availability, and the quantity and quality of work delivered, as well as other objective and non-discriminatory criteria relevant to State Street employees.​

In addition to salary, employees are eligible to be considered for discretionary annual performance-based awards.​
