Cardo Systems, the global leader in wireless communication solutions for motorcycle, ski, and bicycle helmets, is looking for a Technical Lead to drive the architecture, algorithms, development, and integration of our next-generation Mesh Communication and Safety solutions.
The ideal candidate is a strong technical authority who can lead complex, cross-functional efforts and shape end-to-end system behavior while staying hands-on. The role combines deep system thinking, algorithmic expertise, and high-quality embedded implementation, and is ideal for an experienced embedded engineer with solid architectural understanding.
Responsibilities
· Develop critical embedded software components (hands-on coding and reviews).
· Lead end-to-end technical design and architecture for Mesh Communication and other new technologies, from concept through production.
· Turn partial or ambiguous product requirements into clear technical requirements, specifications, and architecture documents.
· Define system behavior across embedded software, communication protocols, algorithms, audio/DSP pipelines, sensors, and other integrations as needed.
· Own high-level and low-level design: system flows, interfaces, timing, and real-time constraints.
· Drive technical decision-making, balancing performance, reliability, power consumption, and scalability.
· Lead root-cause analysis and complex debugging across hardware/software boundaries and system components.
· Collaborate with Software Architecture, Hardware, QA, Mobile App, and Product to deliver integrated, end-to-end solutions.
Must have -
· B.Sc. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
· 7+ years of embedded systems development experience, including system-level design.
· Proven experience as a Software Technical Lead and/or Architect in complex, multidisciplinary environments.
· Strong hands-on programming experience in C/C++.
· Strong system-level thinking: modular design, solid algorithms/data-structures foundation, and clean, well-structured code.
· Deep understanding of low-level, real-time embedded systems behavior.
· Ability to translate product-level needs into software and feature requirements; thrive with partial or vague inputs and define simple, working solutions.
· Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across hardware/software interfaces.
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence technical decisions across teams.
· Ability to manage ambiguity and drive execution in dynamic environments.
Nice to have –
· Experience with sensors (e.g., accelerometers, gyroscopes, GPS).
· Experience with signal processing and/or audio/DSP pipelines.
· Strong math and statistics orientation.
· Experience with wireless communication protocols (Bluetooth Classic and BLE are strong advantages).
