As an Embedded Software Senior Engineer in the Machine Technology Platform Group, you will collaborate with a dynamic team to advance new technologies. You will design, develop, and test software for current and future Caterpillar machine subsystems, using iterative development to deliver features quickly. Success in this role requires producing high-quality code and solving complex technical problems.

What You Will Do:

• Gather and analyze user and client needs to define software requirements for components and subsystems used across multiple products.
• Promote design consistency across products by contributing to product and software architecture discussions.
• Identify common issues, risks, and considerations throughout the development life cycle.
• Develop production-quality C/C++ software, including design, documentation, coding, quality assurance, and validation.

Needed Skills:

• Knowledge of the software development life cycle and a solid understanding of application system design and program specifications.
• Experience developing embedded software for RTOS and Linux environments.
• Proficiency with GoogleTest-based unit testing and embedded build-system workflows.
• Strong scripting and debugging skills (Python, Bash etc).
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with embedded software, validation, and systems engineering teams.

Top Candidate Will Have:

• Experience with configuration management tools such as Git.
• Familiarity with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Docker, Lauterbach, and Rust.
• Experience working with open-source libraries.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools.

Additional Details:

• This is a full-time, on-site position.

Summary Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $169,060.00
