As an Embedded Software Engineer, you’ll help build the next generation of secure, high performance visualization and video wall solutions powering the world’s most critical environments. You’ll be part of a central and highly technical team known for impactful innovation, customer centricity, and winning collaboration, all core Barco values.

�� What You Will Work On


You will contribute to and work on Barco CTRL, our scalable software platform that simplifies control room workflows, deployment, and serviceability, while maintaining the highest standards of cybersecurity. CTRL enables secure access to multiple types of sources from any location and interaction with content on any video wall or operator desk.
In this role, you will:

  • Focus on the low level visualization layer powering dedicated embedded devices.
  • Ensure seamless hardware and software integration across Linux based systems, optimizing performance, reliability, and security.
  • Refactor and maintain shared components across the CTRL stack, reducing technical debt, improving maintainability, and testability.
  • Use telemetry and data insights to debug, analyze, and optimize performance across the stack, while contributing to the evolution of our telemetry framework.

�� Primary Accountabilities

  • Conduct advanced research to support product requirements and architectural choices.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, design specifications, and reports.
  • Collaborate cross functionally to align product vision with implementation.
  • Perform rigorous testing and validation to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Drive innovation, process improvements, and platform sustainability.
  • Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders and, when applicable, customers.

��️ What We’re Looking For

  • Strong expertise in system level design and engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in C and Python, Rust is a plus
  • Experience building solutions on Linux platforms.
  • Knowledge of multimedia frameworks (e.g. GStreamer), graphical stacks and codecs.
  • Hands on experience with embedded systems.
  • Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem solving skills.
  • Strong communication and cross team collaboration abilities.
  • Passion for deliverying high quality products backed by a high discipline in automated testing
  • Passion for improving processes, tools, and developer experience.
  • Experience writing USB or other low level device drivers.

�� Your Background

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of relevant experience in software or embedded engineering.
