We are looking for an experienced security Team Lead to join us in an embedded role for a tech client. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing a small team of embedded security analysts, and for its delivery of high-quality and actionable intelligence insights. The team is responsible for using the latest industry technologies and practices to identify, analyse, and advise on threats and risks that could affect the client’s people, operations, and data, with a particular focus on the AI sector. These include but are not limited to activism trends, intellectual property protection, information leaks, competitor analysis, and emerging markets.

You will be responsible for proactively engaging with the client and stakeholders on intelligence needs and priorities and help scope the output and strategic deliverables of the team. You will act as line manager for the embedded team, support each analyst on training, performance management and continuous improvement. You will be responsible for maintaining the team’s shift schedule to ensure capacity needs are meet.

This is a hybrid role working Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, with 3-4 days a week based at the client’s London office. There may be occasional need to work out-of-hours during emergencies and time-sensitive matters.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities

  • Drive the implementation of the security programme, providing continuous editorial and mentoring support for a small team of UK and US-based Security Analysts
  • Set team priorities, delegate tasks, manage deadlines, provide feedback and ensure high-quality service delivery
  • Define and agree on key intelligence priorities with security stakeholders, to optimise the production and delivery of regular and ad hoc products
  • Work with the team to prepare and deliver credible, timely and actionable intelligence products and verbal briefings to clearly and accurately inform decision making
  • Drive the development of the team’s subject matter expertise on AI trends and sector developments, assessing client exposure and implications for its operations and reputation
  • Supervise the team’s monitoring of all-source intelligence feeds to monitor for security incidents and trends within the client’s areas of operation and locations and determine the likely impact to staff, assets, operations, events, and reputation
  • Support the growth of the intelligence function within the client company by working in collaboration with the client and other team leaders to develop and innovate assessment techniques and SOPs
  • Provide thought leadership for internal stakeholders during ongoing incidents, senior management updates, and crisis management briefings
  • Display creative thinking and consulting skills to deliver a continually improving service for the client, supporting the global business
  • Be an effective leader of a small team, focused on the delivery of lean, high-impact services
  • Oversee SOPs for threat triaging and incident management
  • Provide mentorship and supervision for team members
  • Work flexibly to ensure that client intelligence requirements are met
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to determine how AI, geopolitical and security threats could impact private sector personnel, data, and operations
  • Experience, knowledge and interest in current affairs, international relations and emerging security threats, with expertise in political and security dynamics
  • Advanced research, intelligence gathering and analytical skills, and the ability to write high-quality products and deliver high-impact briefings for a senior security audience
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills, with a high attention to detail and the ability to deliver work with little need for editing, and to quality assure (peer review) intelligence products
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills, with the ability to set and meet deadlines and manage own / a team’s workload accordingly
  • Ability to innovate and identify potential opportunities to enhance efficiency and/or effectiveness within a team, including developing own knowledge to increase value
  • Ability to solve complex problems with patience and precision, whilst retaining a focus on customer needs
  • Ability to build rapport, strong and sustainable relationships, and interact within all levels of the client
  • Knowledge of foresight analytics and / or experience establishing horizon scanning products

Qualifications

  • At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in private sector security, corporate intelligence, and / or geopolitical analysis
  • Fluency in English (both written and verbal)
  • Previous team leadership/management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Security Studies, International Relations, or related field; Master's degree preferred
  • Experience or knowledge of AI trends, activism, and the tech sector, preferred
  • Experience with analytical software or OSINT tools, preferred
  • Preferred cross-functional experience within a global security team (e.g. threat monitoring, travel security, business continuity and crisis management), particularly in a leadership role
  • Preferred experience with analytical software or OSINT tools
  • Preferred experience in data analysis and visualisation
