Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Bulk Receiving Specialist to join our Supply Chain Management team. The successful candidate will oversee and manage bulk chemical receiving activities to ensure continuity of supply, regulatory compliance, and inventory integrity. Exercise independent judgement in coordinating deliveries, resolving discrepancies, and mitigating operational risk related to bulk chemical storage and receipts.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate bulk chemical receiving activities by reviewing delivery schedules and documentation, exercising independent judgment to approve, delay, or escalate receipts based on compliance, capacity, and operational risk.

  • Analyze delivery documentation against purchase orders and record discrepancies, including overages, shortages, or incorrect materials

  • Ensure full compliance with chemical receiving protocols and all regulatory documentation requirements, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Bills of Lading, hazardous materials shipping papers, and other mandated safety forms.

  • Responsible for receiving transactions that directly impact inventory valuation, departmental budges, and month-end financial reporting by ensuring receipts are accurate, discrepancies are resolved, and inventory records are accurate.

  • Respond promptly to urgent or unscheduled deliveries, demonstrating flexibility to support continuous site operations.

  • Maintain well-organized and accurate receiving records (paper-based or system-based as applicable) to support audit readiness.

  • Inspect incoming loads for leaks, damage, or safety hazards before unloading.

  • Ensure proper use of spill containment and emergency procedures.

  • Investigates and resolves receiving inventory discrepancies that could impact financial reporting and inventory accuracy.

  • Independently resolves issues involving missing SDSs, incorrect shipping documentation, quantity variances, and receiving discrepancies to ensure compliance, inventory accuracy, and continuity of bulk supply.

  • Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation where relevant to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.

  • Ensure compliance with Barrick/Nevada Gold Mines’ Social Responsibility, Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and regulations by maintaining a safe, responsible, and sustainable working environment that protects people, the community, and the operation.

  • Apply and maintain approved sourcing, procurement, and operating procedures and systems; monitor adherence by teams and suppliers; and support continuous improvement by implementing processes to agreed standards and identifying areas for improvement.

  • Demonstrate effective housekeeping and organization within the receiving workspace.

  • Ensure adherence to Bulk Receiving SOPs and all regulatory requirements when resolving discrepancies and communicating with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Perform other duties or special assignments as assigned

Supplier Relationship & Performance Management

  • Develop and maintain working relationships with internal customers and external suppliers to support bulk material receiving operations. Utilize independent judgment to address delivery variances, quality concerns, and scheduling conflicts. Communicate supplier performance issues, participate in problem resolution, and provide recommendations for process improvements or corrective actions to ensure reliable material flow and operational efficiency.

Communication and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Communicate and coordinate with carriers, vendors, Accounts Payable, the Bulk Commodity Buyer, and the Bulk Contract Specialist to ensure accurate receipt of materials and timely resolution of issues.

  • Provide support to internal personnel by independently verifying chemical materials using internal systems and receiving documentation and escalate or resolve discrepancies as appropriate.

  • Collaborate with Transportation team and site Operations to monitor bulk storage tank levels and usage rates, exercising independent judgment to recommend delivery timing, prioritize loads, and mitigate risks of stockouts or overfills.

  • Determines whether goods received should be accrued by reviewing purchase orders, receiving records, and supplier documentation to ensure accurate month end financial reporting.

  • Partner with the Transportation Specialist(s) to coordinate the timely receipt of bulk commodities, resolve transportation and supplier issues, and maintain continuity of supply for site operations.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED (required); Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Accounting, or related field (preferred); or equivalent experience required

  • Minimum 3 years in warehousing, materials handling, or receiving, preferably within the mining industry preferred

  • Familiarity with fundamental concepts, practices, and processes in procurement, inventory management, and supply chain operations required

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and demonstrated computer literacy required

  • Proven ability to independently analyze delivery and inventory data, resolve discrepancies, and implement corrective actions required

  • Demonstrated commitment to regulatory compliance, chemical safety protocols, and operational risk management required

  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and carriers required

  • Ability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision, including supporting operational continuity during critical periods (e.g., month-end close, urgent deliveries) required

  • Ability to travel to siterequired

  • Must be available for after-hours emergency procurement activities required
