Job Description

Nevada Gold Mines is seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Contracts Specialist to support sourcing and contracting activities for bulk commodities, transportation, and associated services. This role plays a critical part in ensuring reliable supply, commercial compliance, and cost-effective procurement solutions that support safe and efficient mining operations.

The Contracts Specialist leads the full sourcing and contracting cycle, including bid development, supplier evaluation, negotiations, contract execution, and supplier qualification. This position works closely with operations, technical teams, and Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) personnel to ensure contract requirements meet operational, safety, and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead sourcing and contracting activities for bulk materials, transportation, and related services, including preparation of RFQs/RFPs, evaluation of bids, supplier selection, negotiations, and contract award.

  • Partner with technical teams and EH&S to develop complete bid packages and ensure technical, commercial, and safety requirements are accurately captured and evaluated.

  • Review contractor documentation, certifications, and compliance requirements to support supplier qualification and contract award decisions.

  • Develop, negotiate, and administer contracts for bulk commodities, transportation, and services in alignment with company procurement standards and governance requirements.

  • Manage contract changes, scope updates, and Statement of Work (SOW) revisions, ensuring proper documentation, approvals, and recordkeeping.

  • Maintain contract records and registers to ensure agreements remain current, compliant, and properly tracked.

  • Identify, evaluate, and support development of suppliers based on cost, reliability, quality, safety, and operational performance.

  • Monitor supplier and contractor performance against contractual requirements, including cost, schedule, and service expectations.

  • Collaborate with operations and technical teams to support demand forecasting, contract volume planning, and supply continuity.

  • Conduct market and pricing analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and support sourcing strategies.

  • Prepare reports and provide updates on sourcing activities, supplier performance, and market trends to stakeholders and leadership.

  • Administer procurement transactions in SAP and Ariba, ensuring accurate documentation, approvals, and compliance with company policies.

  • Facilitate contract kick-off meetings to align stakeholders on scope, deliverables, timelines, and safety expectations.

  • Resolve procurement and contract-related issues and support emergency procurement needs when required.

  • Identify opportunities to improve sourcing, contracting, and procurement processes to enhance efficiency and value.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of directly related contracting or procurement experience, preferably supporting service or commodity sourcing.
  • Experience developing and managing RFQs and RFPs, including bid evaluation and supplier selection.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting contract negotiations and resolving contractual conflicts.
  • Experience using Ariba sourcing and contract management systems or similar procurement platforms.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or ERP systems preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook.
  • Professional certifications such as CIPS, CPM, CPSM, or SAP/ERP certification preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
