Eligibility Supervisor– SES

Location: This position will be in Fort Myers (Lee County). Applicants interested in working in counties other than Lee County will need to apply for positions advertised for those specific areas on the People First System.

This position is for an Eligibility Supervisor - SES in the Fort Myers Service Center. Teleworking is not an option for SES positions. Some travel will be required. Facility is a tobacco free environment.

The salary for this position is $1,577.46 bi-weekly ($41,013.96 annually).

The individual occupying this position is responsible determining initial and ongoing eligibility for social service programs, including reviewing, and analyzing error-prone and complex cases to evaluate the quality and quantity of services, conducting trainings, and monitoring staff as appropriate.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Supervise Eligibility Staff.
  • Communicate with, motivate, train and evaluate employees' performance; plan and direct their work.
  • Reviewing and analyzing error-prone and complex cases to evaluate the quality and quantity of services.
  • Conducting training and mentoring staff.
  • Planning, evaluating, leading and guiding staff towards continuous quality improvement.
    Lead their team in such a manner that enhances customer service and the goals of the agency.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent people skills.
  • Knowledge of public assistance program objectives and policies.
  • Knowledge of interviewing techniques.
  • Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Knowledge of applicable mainframe systems and software applications.
  • Excellent skills in operating a personal computer.
  • Ability to supervise people.
  • Ability to set goals, delegate tasks and monitor performance.
  • Ability to coordinate the operations and activities of a unit.
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex information concerning policies and procedures related to ESS programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships.
  • Ability to develop and deliver public presentations.
  • Ability to investigate complaints.
  • Ability to meet and deal with the public in a variety of situations.
  • Ability to compose documents involving technical information.
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulation materials.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to coach, mentor and develop team members.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Two years of work experience in a position where the major responsibility was determining eligibility, conducting interviews, providing counseling, recruiting, billing, or collecting accounts, checking credit, processing insurance policies or claims or providing customer service.
    • OR an associate’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university can substitute for the work experience.
    • OR 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours can substitute for the experience.
  • Two years or more of supervisory experience leading a diverse team.
  • Must be willing to travel.

PREFERENCES

  • Experience with process improvement, performance management, project management or employee engagement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, project management, entrepreneurship, accounting, hospitality, human resources or a related field.
  • Preference will be given to those who have at least two years of ESS experience.
