SUMMARY:
The Resort Recreation Assistant supports the planning, coordination, and execution of outdoor recreation programs, wellness experiences, and resort events at Tamarack Resort. This position plays a key role in creating memorable guest and member experiences through guided activities, event support, trail-based programming, and seasonal recreation offerings.
EMPLOYEE EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in outdoor recreation, guiding, events, fitness, hospitality, or wellness programming
• Familiarity with hiking trails and mountain environments
• Experience assisting with races, recreational events, or group activities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following: Other duties may be assigned, including weekend work.
• Assist with the setup, breakdown, and operation of resort wellness and recreation events
• Support seasonal races, outdoor festivals, wellness events, and community programming
• Lead or assist guided hikes and outdoor recreation experiences ● Provide trail guidance and guest support during recreational activities
• Assist with race preparation including course setup, flagging, aid stations, registration, and event logistics
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of recreation and event equipment
• Communicate professionally and positively with guests, members, and team members
• Help ensure participant safety and adherence to resort policies during activities
• Support wellness and recreation staff with daily operational needs
• Assist with promoting a welcoming and inclusive environment for participants of all experience levels
• Adapt to changing weather, event needs, and operational priorities as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and trail conditions
• Ability to hike moderate terrain and lift/move event equipment as needed
• Organized, dependable, and able to work independently
• Flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings
• Passion for outdoor recreation, wellness, and hospitality preferred
• CPR/First Aid Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain) Preferred Experience
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
The ideal candidate is energetic, organized, guest-focused, and comfortable working outdoors in a variety of mountain conditions. This role requires flexibility, strong communication skills, and the ability to assist with both recreational programming and event operations.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Must enjoy working and interacting with the public
• Ability to multitask
• Must be over 16 years of age
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
• Fluent in English

• Frequent bending, climbing, kneeling squatting, twisting/turning from waist and pushing/pulling objects.
• Will be working with hands and fingers, lifting and moving objects up to 40 pounds horizontally and vertically on a regular basis.
• Near and far vision as well as good depth perception and color vision are important. Frequent use of senses.
• Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.
• This position includes both indoor and outdoor work in a mountain resort setting. Duties may involve hiking uneven terrain, lifting equipment, and working in changing weather conditions.
